🚨 QUICK RESPONSE LEADS TO TWO ARRESTS FOLLOWING CABLE THEFT🚨

This week Thursday, Zonewatch Security officers responded swiftly following a report of four suspects allegedly stealing and stripping cables beneath the Giel Basson Drive and Plattekloof Road bridge.

After receiving the report from Manager Colin Siems, RV480, RV470 and CN1 were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers spotted the four suspects fleeing across the Giel Basson Bridge. ARO Andre Fourie successfully apprehended one suspect, while ARO Freddie Brown pursued the others, who attempted to escape in a bakkie waiting nearby.

During the search, officers located a second suspect who had fled in the direction of Bosmans Dam Road.

Parow SAPS arrived shortly thereafter, and both suspects were arrested.

Although the initial report came from De Grendel Farm, it was established that the cables did not belong to the farm but to another property further down the road.

👏 Well done to our response team & Control Room for their swift action, coordination and persistence in locating the suspects and assisting in bringing them into police custody.

Rest in peace, Anthony. You will be missed. 🕊️

20/07/2026

Every day, our team at Zonewatch works across the communities we serve. Most days, the incidents we attend to are not the major events that make headlines or social media posts, but rather the small acts of service that help keep our neighbourhoods safe.

This morning in Thornton, we received the following message:

"Hi my name is Thembo.I stay in Thornon...Thank you for saving me this morning I could have been robbed on forest drive extension near UCK. Two ladies and one guy most likely armed with a knife tried to rob me but luckily they saw security stopping next to me and exiting his car and they fled. I just want to say thank you to you Imeraan from Zone watch security."

Moments like these often go unnoticed because they are not always highlighted, but they are an important part of what our Armed Response Officers do every single day. We are incredibly grateful for the kind words and support from the communities we serve.

Feedback like this means more than you might realise and can make a real difference to the lives of our operational staff. While people are often quick to leave reviews when something goes wrong, positive experiences are shared far less often.

If you have had a good experience with Zonewatch, we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to leave us a Google review. Your feedback not only helps others learn about our services, but also recognises the men and women who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share their experiences with us. Your support goes a long way.
