Our Smart AI Helps Catch Wanted Criminal!

Last night, WatchTower Group’s AI alerted operators to a man looking into a vehicle parked in a client’s driveway on High Level Road, Sea Point. Operators immediately zoomed in on his behaviour. Finding no opportunity, he decided to move on.

Minutes later, another operator identified the same man outside a second client’s property. The control room updated SRG Security, who had just arrived at the first location. Their team immediately redirected and located him at the second property.

With his behaviour raising concerns about a possible vehicle break-in, the control room requested SAPS assistance. Police arrived and took him to the station for further checks, where an outstanding warrant for his arrest was identified. He was then arrested on that warrant.

Jacques Weber says WatchTower Group’s continued partnerships with Armed Response Companies and the South African Police Service help turn suspicious activity detected by operators into coordinated action across the areas we serve.

Cameras can show you what happened. With WatchTower Group monitoring, they become an active tool to help protect your property and fight crime.

Today, WatchTower Group celebrates a remarkable milestone: 10 years with Lungi as part of our team.

Lungi joined WatchTower when we first started a decade ago and remains one of our most senior and valued controllers. From being the very first person to answer the telephone, she now runs an entire team in our control room and continues to play a key role in the service we provide to clients every day.

WatchTower Group director Jacques Weber said that having staff members who have been with the company from day one means a great deal.

“As we build one of the best off-site monitoring companies, we are also building a workplace where people want to be, feel valued and are excited to come to work. Our clients are exceptionally important, but so are our staff. Retaining excellent people is fundamental to the strength of our business and the service we deliver.”

Lungi, we are exceptionally proud of you. Ten years later, we walked into the control room today to wish you well, and there you were, still leading from the front and ensuring the control room and your team runs as it should.

Thank you for a decade of commitment, loyalty and outstanding service.

🚨 SUSPECT ARRESTED | THEFT OUT OF MOTOR VEHICLE 🚨

On Sunday, a suspect entered the area from Ocean View Drive and targeted an unlocked vehicle parked in Branksome Avenue. Items were removed from the vehicle.

Through swift coordination, SRG Security and Avenue Response Team located and detained the suspect on the corner of High Level Road and Avenue Normandie. SAPS was immediately updated, and the suspect was brought back to the scene, where the vehicle owner opened a case of theft out of a motor vehicle. SAPS officials apprehended the suspect and transported him to Sea Point Police Station.

WatchTower turns ordinary CCTV cameras into powerful crime-stopping tools. Our off-site control room actively verifies suspicious activity as it happens, coordinates the right response partners and ensures incidents are acted on in real time, rather than simply being viewed after the fact.

“Cameras on their own only record what has happened. With active monitoring, rapid verification and the right response partners, they become a powerful tool to stop crime and assist in bringing suspects to justice,” says Jacques Weber, Director of WatchTower Group.

Smart Detection leads to two arrests at Green Point property!

Earlier this week, Watchtower Group’s Smart Detection system alerted control room operators after two individuals climbed over the perimeter fence of a sectional title property in Green Point.

Operators immediately coordinated a response from SRG Security, Law Enforcement and the South African Police Service, concerned that the intrusion could lead to a break-in at the building or theft from a vehicle.

Responding officers arrived within minutes, entered the property and located the two individuals in the parking area. Both were arrested and handed over to SAPS for trespassing.

Jacques Weber of Watchtower Group says the incident demonstrates the value of actively monitored security cameras.

“Our Smart Detection system uses AI rules tailored to each building to identify breaches and alert our operators. This allows us to assess the threat and immediately coordinate a response, creating an opportunity to intervene before an intrusion develops into a further crime.
