Friday thought for every warehouse team in the Western Cape.

Before you leave today, label the open picks, clear the dock notes, put the returns in one place, and write tomorrow's first job on the board.

It's not glamorous work. But it means Monday starts with work, not with last week's mess.

Have a good weekend. You've earned it.

Speed feels good at 2pm. The wrong SKU feels bad next Tuesday.

One mispick becomes a return, a reship, a customer email and 20 minutes of somebody else’s afternoon. Accuracy is quieter than speed, and it costs less than fixing the mistake later.

When the line is stretched, mistakes rise. An extra pair of eyes on the picks — or a dedicated checker on peak days — pays for itself in fewer returns.

Valo sends vetted warehouse staff in site-ready PPE who know how to work a pick list.

Get it right the first time.

Half the floor goes for lunch. The orders don’t stop.

Picking slows. Packing queues. The dock waits. By the time everyone is back, you’ve lost 40 minutes you won’t get back before the trucks arrive.

Stagger the breaks, or put cover on the line while the main crew eats. Either way beats a dead hour in the middle of the day.

Valo can send vetted warehouse staff in site-ready PPE to hold the line through lunch.

Keep the line moving while the team eats.

Tuesday tip for every floor supervisor.

Before the first pick starts, know four things:

1. Who actually walked in.
2. What must leave today.
3. What is due in at the dock.
4. Which station is already thin.

Write them on one page. Share them in two minutes at the huddle. Most “busy” mornings are just mornings that started without a plan.

When check four says you’re short, save our number. Valo sends vetted warehouse staff in site-ready PPE for one shift or a standing cover.

Year-end stocktake labour Cape Town: count it right, close it on time

When a Cape Town warehouse books its year-end stocktake, finance or the auditors set the date — not the spare hands on the floor. Every location still has to be counted and signed off, and inbound and outbound rarely stop for long. Valo Workforce supplies screened temporary labour for Western Cape stocktakes and cycle counts — counters, checkers, recount teams, and the floor cover that keeps receiving and dispatch moving while your permanent team counts....

Night finishes. Day starts. The floor in between is where Mondays go wrong.

Half-picked orders. A receiving bay that wasn’t cleared. A note on a whiteboard nobody read. Day shift spends the first hour fixing last night instead of starting today.

A short, written handover — what’s open, what’s urgent, who’s short — costs five minutes and saves an hour.

When the gap between shifts is the problem, Valo can send vetted warehouse staff in site-ready PPE to cover the overlap.

Start the day with a clean floor, not an inherited mess.
