Something I see quite often in conversations about roles at work is that people start doubting themselves long before their performance actually drops.

They still get the work done.
They still meet expectations.

But internally they start second-guessing themselves more than they used to.

Sometimes the real issue isn’t capability.

Often something in the role has simply shifted — expectations, workload, or fit.

Paying attention to those early signals can make a big difference.

Many capable women assume that when work starts feeling harder than it should, something must be wrong with them.

They question their confidence, their resilience, or their capability.

But what if the situation is simpler than that.

Sometimes the role just no longer suits how they naturally work.

That shift happens more often than people realise.

International Women’s Day is a good moment to remember that sustainable work isn’t about pushing harder — it’s about finding ways of working that truly align with you.

One pattern I see quite often in conversations about work:

People assume that if their energy drops, something must be wrong with them.

They think they need to push harder or be more disciplined.

But sometimes it’s simpler than that.

Sometimes the role just no longer suits the way they naturally work.

When that happens, work starts consuming more energy than it should.

Paying attention to those signals early can make a huge difference.

When work starts to feel unsustainable, the instinct is often:

“I need to get out.”

Sometimes that’s the right call.

But often it isn’t about leaving.

It’s improving how the role is defined.

Small, thoughtful adjustments can make a significant difference such as clarifying the scope, redefining key responsibility areas and accountability.

You don’t always need to walk away.

Often you need to refine how the role fits you.

If work is leaving you more depleted than it should, reassess.

It isn’t always about doing more or becoming stronger.

When the WAY you work and WHAT your job consistently requires are out of sync, it takes more out of you than it should.

That doesn’t mean you’re incapable.

It may mean the ROLE FIT needs attention.

If you’ve been telling yourself to “just try harder,” take a step back.

Sometimes exhaustion isn’t about effort.

It’s about whether the role truly SUITS you.

FIT changes everything.

Alignment isn’t about quitting your job or slowing down.

It’s about whether HOW you naturally work fits what your role is demanding from you right now.

When that fit is off, everything feels heavier.

When it improves, effort feels lighter.

So many of the people I work with aren’t underperforming-they’re working against how they’re naturally wired.

When you understand:

- how you make decisions

- how you use energy

- how you communicate best

Work starts to feel less forced and more sustainable.

That’s the thinking behind my TruEssence Alignment Pathway™:

Awaken → Align → Activate

It’s not about adding more systems.
It’s about designing work around how people actually work best.

If this resonates, you’re welcome to send me a mail.

Something a client said recently really stayed with me.

“I walked away with a deeper understanding of myself and a sense of relief in knowing it’s not only okay to be me-it’s exactly how I was always designed to be.”

That word relief… I hear it so often from midlife women who’ve spent years forcing themselves to work in ways that don’t actually fit.

When you understand how you’re wired to make decisions, use energy, and communicate, you stop trying to “fix” yourself and you start building a work rhythm that feels natural.

She also said:

“It gave me tools to leverage in how I communicate with and respond to others…”

That’s what my 1:1 TruEssence Alignment Pathway™ is about:

Awaken → Align → Activate.

If you’re feeling stuck or tired of forcing mail me [email protected].

I had a quick shout-out on 947 Radio recently to share my thoughts on how employees and freelancers can speak up when something in their employment contract doesn’t feel right.

Whether you’re negotiating a new job offer or are unsure of what to do after signing.

My latest blog gives you a few pointers.

🙌 Feel the fear and do it anyway!

Your employment contract should WORK FOR YOU TOO.
