THE TWO SKILLS EVERY RICH PERSON MUST MASTER

People always ask me,
“Robert, what’s the real secret to getting rich?”

They expect something complicated.

Some formula.

Some magic investment strategy.

But my rich dad told me the truth when I was still a young man:

“If you want to be rich, you need to master two things:
Sales and real estate.”

Why?

Because sales teach you how to communicate, negotiate, influence, and create value.

Nothing happens in business until someone sells something.

And real estate teaches you the richest principles in the world:
Debt & Taxes.

I didn’t understand what he meant at the time.

So in 1974, I took my first real estate course.

That class changed my life.

I learned two things school NEVER teaches:

You don’t need money to buy real estate.
You can use the tax code legally to pay very little in taxes.

Real estate wasn’t just property…

- It was leverage.
- It was cash flow.
- It was tax-free wealth.

And then my rich dad told me:
“You need to learn to sell.”

So just before leaving the Marine Corps, I got a job at Xerox.

Not because I wanted a career there…
but because I wanted to learn sales, the real skill of entrepreneurs.

So why am I rich today?

It’s simple:

I took two courses —

one on sales,
one on real estate.

And those two skills built everything I have.

Meanwhile, my poor dad, the PhD, said,
“Go back to school. Get your MBA. Get your PhD.”

If I had followed his advice,
I would’ve wound up exactly like him:

Highly educated… and broke.

Here’s the truth most people never hear:

You don’t need more degrees.
You need more financial skills.

Sales and real estate will teach you more about money in one year
than school will teach you in twenty.

Because school trains you to work for money.

Sales and real estate train you to make money work for YOU.
