REPORTING STRUCTURE: REPORTS TO THE SHIFT MANAGER AND THE OPERATIONS MANAGER

SKILLS
Past experience and/or knowledge about identifying and managing risk on a scene (accidents/breakdowns/hijacking) from start to finish, in the Commercial Sector.
Insurance policy knowledge in terms of the Commercial Sector.
Experience in market-related price negotiation for towing, cleaning sites, etc.
Experience in managing which service providers to use depending on the situation at hand on the scene.
Problem-solving skills
Decisiveness
Well organised
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in using Microsoft Office tools as well as Google Workspace.
Able to work independently but also in a team.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Managing Incidents (Identify Risk, Manage and Control the scene.)
Initiate the correct response as quick as possible by contacting the right person(s) (Client/Service Providers/Broker/Insurance)
Obtaining quotes and photos from service providers.
Be able to follow the process to compile an accurate and detailed report on the communication and flow of the incident.
Administrative duties related to the incident(s).
Able to give detailed and correct handover to the next team at the end of each shift.
Ad Hoc Duties - The operator will assist with the overflow of work in the ops room regardless of the department as instructed by their superior.

About RMS
RMS (Route Management Services) is a South African company operating in the field of fleet and vehicle incident and risk management, since 2009.
We provide the trucking, logistics and insurance industry with incident and risk management services on a 24/7 basis, locally and across borders. This includes monitoring, risk and preventative measures, accident management, assets and cargo recovery, hijacking management, and roadside assistance.
We are expanding our Operations Centre with capable Risk Controllers to handle and eliminate emergency incidents. Purpose of this role, to monitor and analyse notifications, prevent and eliminate risks and handle emergency incidents until resolved.

The Major 1st Quarter Challenges
• Correctly identify all monitoring signals and understand and execute the associated protocols
• Take action to eliminate risk situations
• Deal with emergency situations
• Escalate where necessary
• Follow up to ensure the risk situation is resolved

Requirements:
Must have qualifications and experience:
• Minimum of Matric with Geography
• 1-3 years frontline emergency services experience: typically, in ops/control center, i.e. fire stations, medical ops, police stations, response teams, etc.
• 1-3 years logistics planning and scheduling experience – preferably in the trucking industry
• Read & Write in Afrikaans and English (Fluent in Afrikaans and English)
• Computer literate: MSWord, Excel and Outlook. (MS Office)
• Valid drivers license and own transport/car
• Excellent typing skills
• Excellent telephone etiquette with a clear voice
• Live within 10km radius of Brackenfell – operational requirements
• Willing to work shifts

Further useful skills – the more the better.
• Course and certificates in emergency services, i.e. firefighting, policing, emergency, security, 1st Aid, etc.
• 1-3 years administrative experience: documenting, recordkeeping, admin processing – preferably using digital tools
