Making us SO proud! 🚨🚔
They’re diligent and exceptionally vigilant. But it’s not every day that our Public Safety Officers are called “angels”.
However, last week four CCID Safety & Security officers, on patrol in a CCID vehicle, earned high praise from a woman after they stopped to offer assistance when they saw her and a nurse trying to help her elderly, wheelchair-bound mother into her car outside Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital on the Foreshore.
The woman, Veronica, explained in a message to CCID Safety & Security manager Jurie Bruwer that her mother, “Granny Sue”, received dialysis at the hospital three times a week. “Getting her safely into the car can be quite difficult. Yesterday, as her nurse and I were helping her into the car, a CCID vehicle pulled up and, almost like angels appearing out of nowhere, four of your team members immediately came to help.
“Without hesitation, and without wanting any attention or recognition, H**e, Madyosi, Mfakadolo and Sopazi gently and carefully lifted my mum into the car with such kindness, dignity and care. They hardly said a word — they simply saw people needing help and stepped in.”
Veronica explained that she was deeply moved by the gesture as “we were not asking for help … we were simply doing what we do every single week. Yet these four men chose to stop, notice, and help anyway”.
She continued: “In today’s world, where everyone is rushing and often staying in their own lane, this felt beyond incredible. It was the purest example of human kindness and compassion, and it affected me far more than I can explain. As quickly as they arrived, they disappeared again, not wanting anything in return. I was so overwhelmed that I asked for a photo and their names because I truly believe moments like this deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated.”
Veronica is a proud Capetonian but the incident “reminded me in the most human way possible just how special the people in this city can be. Please would you pass on my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to H**e, Madyosi, Mfakadolo and Sopazi. They turned an ordinary and difficult moment into something profoundly moving that I will never forget.”
Well done, H**e, Madyosi, Mfakadolo and Sopazi, we are so proud of you! Thank you for flying the CCID flag high!
