🎉 Celebrating 5 SOLID Years of Clara! 🎉

Clara Stassen is one of those people you’re very glad to have on your team, especially when the workload is piling up and something still needs to get over the line. She’s incredibly capable, works brilliantly on her own and can always be trusted to find a thoughtful way forward.

She has a knack for understanding not only what needs to be done, but why it matters. Clara pays attention to the details, does things properly and makes life easier for the people working alongside her. She’s also generous with her knowledge and always happy to help when someone needs it.

But Clara’s contribution goes well beyond the work itself. Her quick wit and sharp sense of humour have rescued many a meeting from becoming far too professional. She brings a fun energy to the team without ever crossing the line into actual unprofessionalism, which is apparently quite a delicate skill. 😅

And, of course, no celebration of Clara would be complete without mentioning her legendary love of cats. We can only assume they’ve played some role in her success over the past five years.

Clara, thank you for being someone your team can count on and genuinely enjoys working with. Happy 5-year SOLID anniversary! 🙌💙

We swapped keyboards for paintbrushes and gave our CPT and JHB teams the chance to get creative at Artjamming. 🎨

With music playing and snacks nearby, everyone got stuck in. Some arrived with a plan. Others confidently made it up as they went along.
There were also plenty of tongues sticking out during moments of serious concentration. We have an impressive number of photos to prove it. 😜

It was a brilliant afternoon spent catching up, having a laugh and discovering that a few people have been keeping their artistic talents suspiciously quiet.

What changes when an ISP’s operations are properly connected? Quite a lot, as Coollink discovered.

🎉 Celebrating 10 SOLID Years of Ed! 🎉

For the past decade, Eduard van Wyk has brought a calm, capable and dependable presence to SOLIDitech.

Ed is the person you want in your corner when things get tricky. He really knows his stuff, but what makes him such a respected technical leader is how generously he shares that knowledge. He makes time to explain, guide and help, and he’s always willing to get involved when an extra pair of capable hands is needed.

His leadership style is steady, patient and people-focused. He supports those around him, gives them room to grow and makes sure they have what they need to succeed. Beneath that famously calm exterior is someone with a strong moral compass who genuinely looks out for his team.

Outside of work, Ed enjoys travelling and putting his green thumb to good use. One day, when he finally gets that piece of land he’s looking for, we’re confident that his many years of experience dealing with bugs will transfer beautifully. 🌱😂

🎉 Celebrating 20 SOLID Years of Chris! 🎉

TWENTY. YEARS.

There are service anniversaries, and then there’s spending two decades helping to build and shape the company we know as SOLIDitech.

Chris has been here for almost the whole story, and his influence can be seen across our technology, our teams and the way we work.

He carries an extraordinary amount of SOLID knowledge in his head. If there’s a strange bug, an obscure piece of legacy code or a problem that has everyone scratching their heads, Chris is very often the person you want in the room.

But perhaps the most important part of his legacy is what he’s done with that knowledge: he’s shared it.
Over the years, Chris has helped countless developers grow, guided future leaders and patiently answered more questions than anyone could possibly count.

One of his running jokes is that he’s trying to “make himself redundant” by teaching others everything he knows, which probably says more about the kind of leader he is than any management textbook could.

Chris sets a high bar and expects people to do the job properly. He’ll challenge you when something isn’t good enough, but he’ll also give you the space to think, trust you to find your own way and step in with exactly the right bit of wisdom when you need it.

And then there’s the Chris everyone knows and loves: affectionately known as Batman, powered almost entirely by coffee and chocolate cake and genuinely excited by an interesting bug sighting for iNaturalist.
He brings knowledge and leadership to SOLIDitech, but also plenty of humour, warmth and humanity.

Chris hasn’t simply witnessed 20 years of SOLIDitech’s story. He has helped write it. There are better developers, stronger leaders and more confident people because he took the time to teach, listen, challenge and encourage them.

Chris, thank you for everything you’ve built, everything you’ve fixed, everything you’ve taught and every person you’ve backed along the way.

Twenty years is an extraordinary milestone and an incredible legacy.
We’re very, very lucky that it’s yours. ❤️
