🚨 This is BIG for musicians, artists and creatives in South Africa. 🇿🇦

The Department of Employment & Labour has signalled its intention to classify performers and crew in the artistic and cultural sectors as employees, not independent contractors.

For years many of us have worked under employment-like conditions with no UIF, no sick leave, no COIDA, no minimum wage protection and little job security.

If established, this could mean:

🎵 Labour protection for artists
📜 Fair contracts and working conditions
💰 Employer accountability
🩺 Access to UIF, COIDA & minimum wage safeguards

This is not about limiting creativity,
it’s about recognising our work as real work.

A 30-day public submission window is now open.

📣 If we don’t speak, decisions will be made without us.
