Industry data shows that South Africa's mining sector recorded R861bn in mineral sales in 2025 (+7.3% YoY), yet women still represent only 16-19% of the workforce.

Economic growth and transformation don't happen automatically. They require intentional operational decisions.

President Ramaphosa called 2026 "a year of transformative change" built on the spirit of the women of 1956.

At Lamatsamo Holdings - 100% Black woman-owned - we're contributing to that change in the mining value chain. Transformative change isn't a promise - it's work!

We are honoured to support a programme that has delivered 16 distinctions and outstanding matric results. Well done to the Class of 2025. Even in 2026 we shall continue to show our support

For the past three years, we have proudly supported three local high schools through matric support classes, working closely with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) under the leadership of Dr Mngomezulu, who has been at the forefront of this initiative. This programme would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors—Ilima Coal Mine, Pretorius Group of Companies NPC, and Lamatsamo Holdings—whose commitment has been instrumental in enabling us to provide quality academic support to our learners and meaningfully improve matric outcomes.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the participating schools, with special recognition to Zinikeleni High School for its remarkable progress. Since the inception of this programme, the school has improved its pass rate from 72% in 2023 to an outstanding 99% this year. This achievement is a true testament to the dedication and selflessness of the teachers, who consistently went above and beyond the call of duty, sacrificing their time to ensure learner success and to help us reach this important milestone.

The Carolina Circuit is currently leading within the Gert Sibande Region, and we remain hopeful and confident that, together, we will continue this upward trajectory and ultimately emerge as leaders at provincial level.
