AFRICA DAY 2026
Today we celebrate the strength, diversity, history, and spirit of a continent rich in culture, innovation, resilience, and possibility.
Africa Day is observed annually on May 25th to commemorate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963 — a milestone that symbolized unity, liberation, and a shared vision for Africa’s future.
The journey began even earlier in 1958 during the First Congress of Independent African States in Accra, Ghana, led by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, where African leaders came together with a vision of solidarity and progress for the continent.
Africa Day reminds us that despite our many languages, cultures, and borders, we share a common story and a common future.
What does Africa mean to you?
