Minimum Requirements:
- PSIRA Grade A and a valid driver’s licence.
- Fi***rm competency for business purposes and Reg 21 requirements for r***e, pistol and sh***un.
- At least five years’ security experience at a platinum mine/concentrator plant, and at least five years in a middle-management position.
- Proven experience managing security sites, teams, clients and contracts in a complex operational environment.
- Experience in physical security deployment, operational planning, crime prevention and the prevention and management of illegal mining.
- Ability to conduct criminal and disciplinary investigations, manage incidents and prepare professional reports.
- Ability to develop security procedures and conduct and review comprehensive security risk assessments.
- Experience managing operational budgets, staffing, overtime and other operating costs.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, applicable labour legislation and private security industry legislation.
- Experience managing community unrest and related stakeholder security risks.
- Strong leadership, people management and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in high-risk, high-pressure environments.
- Strong administrative and Microsoft Office skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Willingness to work shifts and extended or flexible hours when operationally required, and to work underground when required.
- No criminal record.
Advantageous
- A security management diploma or tertiary management qualification.
- First aid and firefighting training or certification.
- A tactical training qualification and/or tactical or crime-prevention experience.
- Experience with security technology and integrated security solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, manage and execute security operations at a platinum mine, including the supervision and deployment of personnel across operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to prevent, detect and manage illegal mining and the theft of platinum, copper cable and other high-value assets.
- Manage physical security, infrastructure and operational resources, coordinating guarding, reaction, tactical and specialised security teams.
- Lead responses to security incidents, emergencies and operational threats, and coordinate responses to community unrest with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct and review security risk assessments, implement mitigation measures and escalate material security, contractual and client-related concerns to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, applicable security legislation, company policies, standard operating procedures and site-specific client requirements.
- Maintain strong client relationships, monitor operational performance and achieve contractual and service delivery standards.
- Oversee investigations, incident reporting, root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage operational budgets, staffing, overtime and other resources to deliver cost-effective services.
- Improve security operations through appropriate technology, intelligence and innovative security solutions.
- Manage workforce performance, attendance, discipline, training and development in line with company policies and applicable labour legislation.
