Position: Area Manager (Mining Division)

Minimum Requirements:
· PSIRA Grade A.
· Valid Driver’s Licence.
· Valid Firearm Competency and applicable Regulation 21 requirements.
· Minimum 10 years’ experience within a middle to senior operational management position.
· Proven management experience within the mining security environment.
· Proven experience in managing multiple security sites, teams and complex operational requirements.
· Strong knowledge of mining security operations, procedures and associated risks.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the prevention and management of illegal mining activities and associated risks.
· Experience in physical security deployment, operational planning and crime prevention.
· Ability to conduct, implement and review comprehensive security risk assessments.
· Proven experience in incident management, investigations and professional report writing.
· Proven client and contract management experience within a complex security environment.
· Experience in managing operational budgets, manpower, overtime and other operational costs.
· Strong administrative and Microsoft Office skills.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
· Strong leadership, people-management and decision-making capabilities.
· Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
· Knowledge of applicable labour legislation and private security industry legislation.
· Knowledge and experience in managing community unrest and stakeholder-related security risks.
· Ability to operate effectively in high-risk and high-pressure environments.
· Must be willing to travel extensively throughout the Eastern Limb.
· Must be willing to work extended and flexible hours when operationally required.
Advantageous
· Tactical and/or crime-prevention experience.
· First Aid certification.
· Fire Fighting certification.
· Experience with security technology and integrated security solutions.
Key Performance Areas
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
· Planning, managing and executing mining security operations across the Eastern Limb.
· Ensuring the effective management, supervision and deployment of security personnel across multiple operations.
· Developing and implementing strategies for the prevention, detection and management of illegal mining activities.
· Preventing and mitigating chrome, copper cable and other high-value asset theft.
· Managing physical security operations, security infrastructure and associated operational resources.
· Ensuring effective response to security incidents, emergencies and operational threats.
· Managing community unrest and coordinating appropriate security responses in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
· Conducting, reviewing and implementing comprehensive security risk assessments and mitigation measures.
· Ensuring compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, applicable security legislation, Company policies and client requirements.
· Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring consistent achievement of contractual and service delivery standards.
· Monitoring operational performance and ensuring compliance with Company SOPs and site-specific procedures.
· Leading and overseeing investigations, incident reporting, root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
· Managing operational budgets, manpower, overtime and resources to ensure cost-effective service delivery.
· Identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance security operations through technology, intelligence and innovative security solutions.
· Ensuring effective coordination between guarding, reaction, tactical and specialised security resources.
· Managing workforce performance, attendance, discipline, training and development in accordance with Company policies and applicable labour legislation.
· Identifying operational risks and escalating material security, contractual and client-related concerns to senior management.
· Driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency and security effectiveness across all mining operations within the Eastern Limb.
