My bedroom is my sanctuary- a peaceful place where I can relax and gather my thoughts.

In order create this feeling of calm, I choose a colour palette of cream and taupe with touches of pale pink for the main bedroom.
~
The addition of white plantation shutters not only provides security, but also enhances the tranquility of the room.
~
For the ensuite bathroom, I chose a bolder colour scheme of black and white with accents of gold in the mirrors and picture frames.

When decorating a room, I like to combine different colours, textures and lighting.
~
I transformed the monochromatic sitting room (see last picture) into a kaleidoscope of colour by pairing bright pink cushions with a white linen sofa and by reupholstering an ottoman with a tapestry carpet.
~
I also included a touch Africa with the addition of black hand-carved side tables on either side of the fireplace as well as a zebra-skin footstool.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than dressing up a table for an occasion.
~
We had such glorious weather in Cape Town this past Christmas, that we decided to celebrate with lunch outside on the patio with the beautiful view of Table Mountain as a backdrop.
~
I added a touch of Africa to the traditional Christmas colours of red and green by adding in animal-print crackers šŸ¦“šŸŽ„

Another A F T E R (Kitchen Edition)

It's amazing what a difference a fresh coat of paint makes! I've always loved a black and white kitchen with touches of red and navy blue, as well as bunches of fresh herbs from the garden.
~
In addition to painting the wooden doors, I also replaced the door handles.

Red is one of my favourite colors. As you can see from the previous post, the theme of red continues from the family room to the spare bedroom .
~
I had the headboard custom-made using red and taupe linen and paired it with an eiderdown in a French Souleiado fabric.
~
The use of pure white cotton linen completes the look and enhances the romance of the room.

My name is Pippa Honor Kirkland and I am passionate about helping you make your house into a stylish home.

I have always loved beautiful homes that are a reflection of the home owner's personality. I like to make my homes welcoming and warm, yet interesting.

Homes should be a sanctuary, while at the same time uplifting to our moods.

After numerous requests from my family and friends, I have decided to create an interior consulting business called Honor Interior Consulting to help others start their own home-decorating journey.
