Although we all despise the clean-up after Christmas Day, it serves as a reminder of how precious the day was!

But, there are some small things you can do to avoid a big mess.

Clean up as you cook. Wipe the counters regularly and put away any ingredients as soon as they are no longer needed.

Assign a friend or family member to wash, one to dry, and one to put away dishes.

Whoever can throw away the most wrapping paper gets a surprise (fun for the kids)!

Why do we still keep tinsel?

It was developed from strands of silver that were used to reflect light created by the real candles placed on Christmas trees in 1610. While this tradition has since been replaced by electric lights, tinsel has stood strong.

If it is here to stay, keep your tinsel tangle-free by wrapping it around a piece of cardboard or plastic; storing it in a vacuum seal bag or in its own box.

Go through each of your decorations and throw out any that might be damaged or broken (strings of lights that no longer work can be taken to a recycling plant!).

Free up some space by donating any ornaments that are no longer serving you so that they can go to a loving home.

Store like decorations together in containers so that they are easily accessible for when you need to decorate that tree!
