Fryer's Cove Fryer’s Cove is the smallest ward and closest vineyard to the Atlantic Ocean in South Africa. 🔞

In 1999, the first vines of Fryer's Cove were planted amongst beach vegetation. This area, which is eight hundred and twenty meters from shore and about twenty meters above sea level, is sought after for its ideal climate which translates into the prominently unique flavour and character of Fryer's Cove wine.

On the Cape West Coast, where the land meets the Atlantic, life looks a little different.

Out here, adventure doesn’t always need the perfect equipment. Sometimes, all it takes is a piece of styrofoam used as a makeshift paddleboard and the courage to head out into the open ocean.

Each year, approximately 50kg of sea salt is carried from the ocean and deposited across the Bamboes Bay vineyards, a remarkable reminder of just how close our vines grow to the sea.

We’re a little obsessed with Bamboes, also known as Kelp - and for good reason. Washed ashore by the wild Atlantic, it transforms from deep ocean greens into shades of olive, amber and bronze, even inspiring the name of our registered w**e ward, Bamboes Bay, named for the kelp that defines this rugged coastline.

It is also a vital guardian of marine life and a sign of the ocean’s raw, ever-changing beauty.

FROM THE EDGE OF THE WORLD, A WIN FOR THE WILD.

We’re immensely proud to announce that Fryer’s Cove Bamboes Bay Hollebaksstrandfontein Sauvignon Blanc 2025 has won Gold as the National Winner in the Sauvignon Blanc category at the SA Terroir W**e Awards 2026.

Born just 540 metres from the icy Atlantic Ocean in Bamboes Bay - South Africa’s smallest demarcated w**e ward - this is Sauvignon Blanc shaped by relentless winds, ocean mist and limestone-laced soils. Wild-fermented and matured for 10 months in Austrian oak and ceramic amphorae, it brims with seashell minerality, zesty citrus, coastal flowers, wild kelp and West Coast vygie fynbos.

This award celebrates more than a remarkable w**e. It honours an untamed origin, a pioneering spirit and a journey beyond the familiar.
