STOLEN TOYOTA FORTUNER RECOVERED IN PHOENIX; SUSPECT APPREHENDED

A Toyota Fortuner reported stolen from the Phoenix Plaza area was successfully recovered following a coordinated operation involving KZN VIP, tracking agents, SAPS, and other law enforcement agencies.

Following the activation of the vehicle's tracking system, multiple resources were mobilised and placed on high alert in an effort to locate the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently tracked to Croftbury Drive in Phoenix, where it was found being driven by a male suspect.

Members of KZN VIP, working alongside tracking agents and law enforcement partners, swiftly intercepted the vehicle and detained the suspect without incident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle belonged to a local pastor who had reported it stolen. It is further alleged that the individual found in possession of the vehicle was known to the complainant. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain subject to investigation.

The suspect was transported to SAPS for further processing, and a case was opened. However, it is understood that the complainant later elected not to proceed with criminal charges. As a result, the suspect was released, and the vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.

KZN VIP commends the swift response and cooperation between all role-players involved, which contributed to the successful recovery of the vehicle.

One person has tragically lost their life and two others sustained serious injuries following a devastating single vehicle crash at the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Fernlea Crescent during the early hours of Friday morning.

KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services, together with other emergency responders, were dispatched to the scene after reports of a serious motor vehicle collision were received.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel were met with a severely damaged vehicle and multiple injured occupants. The driver had sustained critical injuries and was extensively entrapped within the wreckage.

Recognising the severity of the incident, KZN VIP Advanced Life Support medics immediately initiated critical lifesaving interventions while coordinating additional resources, including the Fire Department, to assist with the complex extrication process.

*Good Morning Durbs*

Here are the tariffs that was passed by exco and will go to full council this coming Friday.

By now they would have worked out who will optically oppose the tariffs while ensuring they have enough votes to make it pass.

Rates: 2%
Electricity: 9%
Water: 14% household
15% Businesses
Sanitation: 8% househol
9% Businesses
Refuse: 9.5%

Many Ratepayers will express disappointment and frustration.... and they need to ask themselves what have they done to mitigate these increases. What are they willing to do ?
Or are they going to just except these increases and move on....

🚨 BULLYING AND SCHOOL VIOLENCE REMAIN A GROWING CONCERN IN PHOENIX 🚨

A learner from a local school in the Phoenix area was allegedly seriously assaulted this past week in what is believed to be an ongoing bullying-related incident.

According to information received, the learner had finished school and was exiting the school premises situated in the Caneside area when the child was allegedly attacked by family members linked to another learner from the same school.

The learner reportedly sustained serious injuries after allegedly being assaulted with a blunt object.

It is believed that the incident stems from ongoing bullying and conflict between learners, an issue which continues to be a growing concern across multiple schools within the Phoenix area.

The affected family has since reached out to KZN VIP seeking assistance and guidance regarding the safeguarding and protection of their child, expressing concerns that sufficient measures may not currently be in place to adequately ensure learner safety.

This serves as an awareness post to encourage parents, schools, community leaders, and learners to take bullying, intimidation, and violence within and around school environments seriously before situations escalate further.

Bullying is not “just part of growing up.” It can lead to severe emotional trauma, serious injuries, long-term psychological effects, and in some cases, tragic consequences.

We encourage:
• Learners to report bullying immediately
• Parents to engage openly with their children
• Schools to strengthen safety and monitoring measures
• Communities to work together to protect vulnerable learners

Every child deserves to feel safe at school and while travelling to and from school.

🚨 ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL VEHICLE RECOVERY THROUGH JOINT OPERATIONAL EFFORTS 🚨

KZN VIP together with Cartrack, Tracker South Africa, and multiple crime prevention stakeholders continue to achieve positive results in the fight against vehicle-related crime across Durban and surrounding areas.

Through coordinated intelligence, rapid response, and strategic operational deployments, a stolen Toyota Hilux taken from the Umhlanga area was successfully recovered in KwaMashu before it could be completely stripped for parts.

While suspects managed to evade arrest, the recovery once again highlights the importance of swift reporting, effective tracking technology, and strong partnerships between private security, tracking companies, and law enforcement-related stakeholders.

Vehicle theft and stripping syndicates remain a serious concern within KwaZulu-Natal, with many stolen vehicles being moved rapidly into areas where they are dismantled for parts within hours. Through proactive patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and continuous collaboration, KZN VIP remains committed to disrupting criminal activity and assisting in the recovery of stolen property.

We commend all teams involved for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to protecting the community.
