Spending your allotted budget is usually more of a challenge in the Public Sector than in the Private Sector, where we are rewarded for under-spending. Why?
The level of under-spend usually translates into profit, which sometimes translates into bonuses.
In the Public Sector, under-spend results in the Department losing money to another department. The funds get “re-prioritised” or “re-allocated” elsewhere. Under spend in government departments is surprisingly common.
SETAs meet this challenge in a good way: they make more money available for businesses to supplement their training budgets.
That is good news, right?
Right now, (May 2023) the merSETA has a Discretionary Grant (DG) funding window open until the 30th May 2023. They have funding to support a staggering 17,440 training interventions for their priority skills. That’s a lot of training! More than half of the budget is set aside for Learnerships and Skills Programmes. See the attached presentation for more details.
Remember, Kingsley Elliot Consulting works with a variety of training providers, so we are well positioned to help.
We attach a Power Point of the presentation from SA Business School, an accredited Training Provider whom we have found to be very helpful and professional in the DG Application process, and in their training offerings. They have a Learner Completion rate of over 90%.
SA Business School Learnership rates are also reasonable. Their online options are highly competitive.
To take advantage of the opportunity, mail us on [email protected] by the 22nd May so that we have sufficient time to process the application.
Note: merSETA is the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority.
