As announced by His Worship, the Mayor, Councillor Cyril Xaba, MCPM, through our property holding company 1787 Property Group, is proud have been awarded the development lease for the redevelopment of the former Durban Funworld site along the Golden Mile.
Our proposed redevelopment will introduce a world-class 24,329 m² destination - the Durban Amusement Park. The park will feature 13 major and family rides, offering the perfect balance of high-thrill excitement and inclusive experiences for all visitors. The park will also feature a state of the art 2,000 m² Extended Reality (XR) arena, delivering immersive virtual-reality gaming, interactive digital environments, and technology-driven exhibitions designed for all ages.
Beyond entertainment, the Durban Amusement Park will include a vibrant commercial and food precinct tailored to support local SMMEs, ensuring meaningful participation in one of Durban’s most significant upcoming tourism investments.
This development is strengthened by partnerships with globally recognised leaders, including Team Park Project (Italy) - one of the world’s premier amusement park design firms - and Zamperla Group S.p.A., a global pioneer in ride engineering.
The Durban Amusement Park marks a major step forward in revitalising the Durban beachfront - bringing new jobs, renewed tourism energy, and a contemporary recreational landmark to the city.
