The SMME sector, inclusive of township and rural enterprises, is considered to be a beacon of hope due to its vast, untapped potential to boost South Africa’s economic growth and employment, while being an economic activity of necessity for millions.
These SMMEs are fairly diverse, including, amongst others, spaza shops, hair/beauty salons, taxi services, shebeens, street vendors, stokvels, child-care services, mechanical services and manufacturing entities.
The KZN Township & Rural Business Awards aims to both assist and reward our local entrepreneurs who have shown courage and confidence in expanding their businesses in spite of all the negative perceptions and circumstances that they face on a daily basis.
