🚨 Yesterday at 16:59, I got one of those calls…

“Ridwaan, we just suspended an employee. She still has her laptop. Can you lock her out?”

Here’s the problem… they’re not on our Cyber 360 plan.
I could shut down her Microsoft 365 account, but…
💻 Anything already downloaded to her laptop? She still has it.
📧 If she used her personal Gmail? I wouldn’t even see it happen.

This is why I’m always saying: the danger isn’t always hackers.
Sometimes it’s the person you just walked out the door.

⚠️ R180,000 Gone in an Instant: Why Your Mailbox Is a Hacker’s Goldmine

Yesterday I got a panicked call from a business owner (not on our Cyber360 plan):
"Can you check our mailbox? Something’s off."
Turns out, they only noticed after a client phoned asking about a strange payment request.

Here’s what we found:
👉 Hackers had snuck in, set up hidden rules, and quietly rerouted all emails about payments, invoices, and quotes to a folder nobody checks.
👉 For weeks, the hacker pretended to be them—responding to customers, sending fake payment instructions.
👉 By the time anyone caught on, R180,000 had already been paid out… to the criminal.

This happens far more often than you think. Most people only realise once money is missing.

🚨 Last week I got phished — by a college.
Okay, not directly… but their domain was spoofed in a very real phishing attempt.

I dug into it. Turns out, this is a nationally registered college with multiple campuses across SA — and their domain fails DMARC completely.
No enforcement. No protection. Just open to abuse.

So now their domain is being used by criminals to trick people into clicking, giving up info, or even paying fake invoices.

😳 Think about that: a well-known educational institution… unknowingly involved in a phishing attack.

👉 This could just as easily be your business.

If your domain doesn’t have SPF, DKIM, and DMARC properly configured — or if DMARC isn’t set to “reject” — you’re leaving your brand wide open.
