Thekwini Maritime Cluster will be holding an information session for existing businesses in, and those existing businesses that aspire to be in the maritime industry on Friday, 29 May 2015 at the Coastlands on the Ridge. The sessions will orientate entrepreneurs about the maritime sector and EMC’s incubator programme for maritime entrepreneurs.

Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) 2015

Dear Exporter,

Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal invites your company to apply to participate in the DTI coordinated Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) 2015, now in its 39th year. The DITF is scheduled to take place from 28 June - 8 July 2015 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The closing date for submission of complete National Pavilion application forms is 20 February 2015, companies are advised to apply well in advance to allow any refer backs due to the incompleteness of applications.

the dti will offer the following financial support to qualifying firms:

Air travel assistance up to R17,000 (SMME and BOE)
Daily subsistence allowance of R2,300 per day (SMME and BOE)
Freight forwarding of display material
Exhibition space and booth rental costs.
The targeted sectors for this trade fair include:

Built environment professionals (consulting engineers, civil engineering contractors, quantity surveying and architects)

Small, micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs) are the engine of growth in any economic. The sector creates a very significant portion of the workforce in the country. The significance of the sector has been strengthened by the recent establishment of a Ministry of Small Business. To acknowledge and appreciate the important role the sector plays in promoting wealth and prosperity in the country, Africagrowth Institutes, in partnership with major Private Sector Institutions, NGOs and SMME support agencies will be organising the 2015 South Africa SMME Conference and Awards. The one-day conference and awards ceremony will take place on 4 June 2015. (Venue to be confirmed)

The idea behind the Awards is to identify and recognise the best performing SMMEs in our country. The Award ceremony showcases the countries best SMMEs in the trade, services and industrial sectors. The overall winner will be crowned as the South African SMME of Year.

WHO IS ELIGIBILE TO ENTER?
To be eligible, your business must satisfy all of the following criteria:

• Employ less than the full time equivalent of 200 persons and must not have a turnover more than
R30 million per annum.
• Registered in South Africa
• In active operation for at least two years;
• Be resident in South Africa;
• Not be a branch of another business.

IMPORTANT DATES AND DEADLINES:
• Deadline for submission of entries and material: 31 January 2015
• Finalists to be notified: 28 February 2015

Clive had a short film career in the UK, he returned to South Africa in 2007 working for AMH as a business development consultant. He played an integral role in their launch of the Proton range of vehicles and participated in their marketing strategy including mobile device marketing and distribution. In 2009 he joined Sasfin Bank as an investment administrator, responsible for implementation and strategy. His passion for investments coupled with his marketing experience led to him being promoted to head of business development for the successful asset consulting division. In less than a year, he had played a critical role in creating new marketing strategies and effective client management tools. Later he was promoted to business development consultant of Sasfin Asset Managers, responsible for turnaround strategies and construction of new portfolios.

The Department of Trade and Industry, (the dti) invites companies to apply to participate in a Trade and Investment Mission to Ghana and Benin from 18–29 August 2014.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the objective of this mission is to increase trade and investment among South Africa, Ghana and Benin.
“This Mission is an ideal platform for South African companies who would like to export value added products and services and for companies who are looking for investment opportunities and joint venture partnerships in the West Africa region. Sectors targeted for the mission are Agro-processing; Infrastructure (rail, road and telecoms); Built environment professionals (consulting engineers, civil engineering contractors, quantity surveying and architects); Energy (Oil, Gas and renewable energy); Mining and Capital Equipment; and Electro technical (electronics, electrical engineers, ICT and Power),” said Minister Davies.
Davies added that companies will be selected in line with the dti’s Export Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme (EMIA) requirements.
The approved companies will get a subsistence allowance of R2,300 per day; and an economy class return airfare to a maximum of R17,000.
Companies that are not eligible for EMIA funding are welcome to participate in this mission at their own expense.
All companies applying for EMIA funding for this mission need to complete and submit the EMIA application form as well as a one page profile to:
