Don't Talk about your Writing!

Those closest to us love to know what it is that we are writing about. People often see themselves in our writing when that was not the intention. And when we do write about them, disguised of course. then they don't connect the character with themselves.
That is the mystery of writing!

But if you are a writer with a love of words and of getting your ideas down on paper, please know that those we care deeply about can easily disable us. They would be upset if we told them this, but writing will change a person. For the better.
For one thing he or she will be putting out ideas that may be a help to other people. Our writing strangely lands up in remote places because of the power of books or of the internet.

So a writer owes it not only to him or herself but to the world at large to protect that talent. The right brain as we know is the seat of creativity and that seat is allergic to criticism. So even well chosen helpful critical words from our nearest and dearest can chase our writing muse into hiding. So rather don't give them the opportunity.

The best thing is to keep to yourself any brilliant new idea and to write about it rather than talk about it. When it is fully fledged, then comes the time to go public with it.... and those around us are welcome to listen. By that time they will probably be in agreement with you which is a great blessing!

Have fun, writing is full of surprises!
