What a morning...
30 women gathered at The Loft, Bellevue Cafe for our Women's Month breakfast with Momentum — to eat, connect, drink good coffee, ask real questions, and have a few tough conversations along the way.
The facts were sobering. Women live on average 4.9 years longer than men — yet earn less over their lifetimes, which means fewer rands have to last longer. 84% of custodial parents are women. And breast cancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer among South African women, with around 13,300 new diagnoses every year.
But facts are our friends. Because once you know them, you can plan for them.
Misha Badassy (Legal Advisor) unpacked the financial planning realities unique to women, and Anne Davey (Risk Technical Specialist) walked us through critical illness — what medical aid and gap cover don't reach, and how to make sure you and your family are properly provided for, before you need it.
One of the most special parts of the morning was hearing from women who have experienced first-hand what it means to have a financial advisor in their corner. It's why we mean it when we say: we're here to walk the journey with you.
And the morning gave back, too: our guests took home handcrafted Forever Flowers from the Inhliziyo Enhle Project — a community upliftment initiative under Open Hands NPO that teaches crochet skills to women from under-resourced communities in KZN, helping them earn an income and build a future. Every flower tells a story.
To the woman taking charge of tomorrow: a well-lived life is rarely an accident.
