Dedicate your dream

A dream without a purpose is worthless.

It is critical that you identify the real purpose for your dream's existence. Without this knowledge or the determination to establish your dream's purpose, the dream will have shallow or perhaps non-existent roots. Even a gentle breeze could topple your dream tree.

Dreams without a purpose are unable to withstand the adversity they must face to become the giant redwood forest that they have the potential to grow.

Nothing grounds a dream better than a well-defined and understood purpose. As Victor Frankel said, people who had a reason to live or had meaning for their life were the ones that survived the torturous concentration camps during World War Two. Neither looks, abilities, status or gender were indicators of survival.

Your dream is vulnerable in the beginning. Make it strong. Make it worthwhile.

Celebrate your dream

A celebrated dream is an energized dream.

Most things are celebrated at commencement. A new business, the birth of a baby, the wedding signifying the start of a marriage, first day of school, etc. All of these are celebrations of the start of the fulfillment of a dream.

The greater the importance and potential result, the greater the celebration. Your dream is necessary. The fact that you had the ability to come up with the idea in the first place implies that you have what it takes to lead it to its fulfillment.

I said lead, as you only need to concern yourself with the reasons, the shatterproof technology, others can contribute to the 'HOW' portion, the mundane day-to-day actions that need to be taken to realize the dream. A dream without a leader is a dead dream.

Give your dream the kick-start it needs. Celebrate its start in a way that signifies its end.

Birth your dream

You have everything you need to take the first step. The first step is the beginning of the wonderful end you have imagined.

Begin with what you have. That is the secret. Simply use what you have to get what you do not have so that you can have what you have always had.

Too many people fail to take this first step because they do not have all the ingredients for step 2, 3, 4 or beyond.

When you are operating in the fulfillment of dreams, you begin to understand that you only ever need the tools for the next step. The resources for step two are contained in the fulfillment of step one.

You never lose anything when you take a step. You only gain. In fact, you become stronger by having taken it.

Observe children when they begin to walk. The growth process they go through is no different to the process you need to experience in achieving your dream.

By drinking milk, they grow strong enough, develop teeth and then eat solid food.

Dreams are achieved the same way. One growth step at a time.

Announce your dream

An announced dream is a proclaimed dream, it's just a matter of time before you see it fulfilled.

I will never forget the moment Ann made the announcement that we were going to have a baby. I had a permanent smile on my face. In fact, my mouth seemed to be too small to project the joy and excitement I felt in my heart. I had to share it. We told family, friends and anyone we could. We were full of enthusiasm, and it was as if our life as a married couple had taken on real meaning.

The truth was we already had a baby, we just had to wait another eight months or so for it to appear. We were proclaiming to the world that a baby was on its way; that we were going to do our part to bring this new life into the world. We were also giving them an opportunity to share in our joy and to participate practically in it.

The early prospectors who came to our country seeking gold, also staked their claim. Why not stake yours?

Incubate your dream

Every dream has a gestation period. Don’t abort your dream.

A seed is programmed to produce a harvest many times its own size. This harvest contains in it the very seed for an even greater harvest. Interestingly, neither the seed nor the plant resembles the harvest.

Similarly, the dream carrier does not resemble the potential of the dream. There is no shortcut to your dream. Every seed has its own gestation period. With known seed, it is documented and, try as you will, you cannot change this period.

Germination begins once a seed is planted in soil, and provided it is protected from severe environmental conditions, it will produce fruit in abundance in due season.

We need to be spiritually mature to incubate our dream and carry it full term. We need to be undeterred by the circumstances that surround us or the feelings we are experiencing, otherwise our dream could be stillborn?

MBA your dream

MBA = My Big Advantage

People without a dream are directionless. They drift from one place to another, moving in seemingly never ending circles of frustration and despair. Every day they hope for things to change not realizing that everything will change when they do. The answer is to have a dream. Perhaps they believe that dreams are for children and that adults need to be realistic. They look around and see everyone doing things they dislike and simply join them. Soon they too become part of the rat race and assume the answer lies in winning the race. What they fail to recognize, is that even if they win, they are still a rat. Maybe its your time to get out the rat race. Your biggest advantage on this planet is your dream. I like to call it an MBA; My Big Advantage. It will strip the socks off any university MBA; that I can assure you.

MAP your dream

Your dream needs a MAP to navigate from where it is to where it was born to be.

Once you have defined your dream, you need to develop a Master Action Plan.

Your MAP will equip you to take the first step towards its fulfillment, namely writing it down. A MAP also enables you to answer some important questions about your dream and allows you to consider some of the possible resources that you could access that will contribute to its success.

The dream you were born to birth will have a significant factor; it will also evoke an emotional connection that will energize you from within. It is essential that you MAP your dream to establish whether evidence of these two characteristics is present.

Many people using MAP4LIFE, fail to appreciate the relevance of following through with the MAP process and end up pursuing good goals instead of great goals. Don’t fall into this trap, be patient and diligent.

Pardon your dream

An imprisoned dream is not a dead dream.

I had a dream, around my twelfth birthday, to MAP THE WORLD.

It caused my heart to skip several beats. My spirit was inspired and bubbled with excitement. I felt butterflies in my gut and a broad smile was etched onto my face. I knew I had found what I was looking for, the very reason for my existence. All of these thoughts and emotions were instantaneous and very real.

But just as quickly and miraculously as they appeared, I was consumed with doubt and the misunderstanding that what I dreamed had already been accomplished. Depression set in and I suppressed this treasure.

Graciously, thirty-one years later, I realized that the very vision I had at eleven had already been underway for nine years. It had never died; it had simply been imprisoned by my own misunderstanding of what it meant to MAP THE WORLD.

Define your dream

Dreams defined are dreams with destiny.

The world is full of people with dreams. In fact, I have never met someone without a dream of some kind, even if it's to simply get out of debt or have food on the table.

Unfortunately, many people fail to realize that the first and most important step in making their dream become a reality is just to write it down. The act of defining your dream in writing is more powerful than you can imagine.

More and more people are testifying to the unexplained miraculous achievement of dreams and goals initiated by the act of inking it on paper. Written dreams are anchored and can immediately take root.

Unwritten dreams seem to float, drift or get tossed this way and that by the circumstances of life.

Just as a seed takes seemingly nothing and turns it into something, so too, a written dream begins its path of fulfillment.

Dream your dream

You were born to dream bigger than big.
Allow yourself to dream what has never been dreamed before.

Every human is born with an inexplicable ability to see what does not exist. We call it imagination.

Children use it freely and extensively, transporting themselves to unknown worlds, finding solutions to any and all problems, creating loyal friends at the snap of a finger and reaching success in any venture.

The word impossible does not exist. To them all things are possible. Time, money and ability are terms that have no relevance. Soon they learn that the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny do not exist. They think dreams fall into this same category.

As teenagers, they become realistic and limit their dreams to those within their grasp, the possible. They aspire to a settled-for-life comprising a spouse, house, job, car, holiday, family and education.

How different life would be if they just dared to dream again.
