Hi guys

A reminder that the individual tax return filing season has opened. Please remember the following:

File your returns timeously to avoid any penalties.

Collect all your tax certificates from your service providers eg: medical aid, investments (IT3b), IRP5/IT3a

Some people whole have/will receive an sms from SARS to state that they have been auto assessed. This just means that SARS has pre-populated your tax return and completed it for you. However, still make sure you check the values in your return against those in your documents.

4. Submitting returns via e-Filing is the easiest and most convince you way. Where you are unsure, you can contact us for more information...

To all individual taxpayers

Sars has started with the process of issuing the AUTO ASSESSMENTS, and other taxpayers has already received the SMSes.

Our advise:
DO NOT accept the assessment unless you are 100% sure and understand how they came about to the final assessment outcome.

Should you wish us to review the assessment and re-calculate the current tax payable/refundable for you, contact us on 068 525 355/073 878 0899. We are also available on WhatsApp.

02/07/2020

As a result of Covid-19, tax season has now been moved to 1 September 2020. While we wait, here are the top 4 things you need to know about this tax season:

1. New tax filing dates have been introduced

Tax filing season will now begin on 1 September, which means that there are new deadlines for taxpayers.

For those who file their taxes online:

If you are earning a salary, with no provisional income, your tax season is from 1 September 2020 until 16 November 2020.

For those who file their taxes at a SARS branch:

SARS will only be accepting tax filing by appointment. Your tax season is from 1 September 2020 until 22 October 2020.

2. Don’t accept SARS auto-assessment.

SARS may contact you via SMS to auto-assess your taxes in August.
We advise you not to accept the auto-assessment and file your tax return on 1 September 2020.
This will prevent you from losing out on your full refund, or in the worst-case scenario, not receive a refund at all.
The auto-assessment does not allow you to claim tax deductions like medical expenses, donations, home office, wear and tear of resources, etc.

3. Get your documents ready

Even though the tax season has been delayed, that doesn’t mean that you have to delay the process of getting your documents in order.

Here’s a list of 6 of the most common documents that you will need:

1. IRP5 from your employer / Pension
2. Medical aid certificate
3. IT3b/IT3c showing your investments
4. Retirement annuity certificate
5. PBO certificate showing your donations
6. Travel logbook for business travel

4. Have a tax number & eFiling profile

If you have not registered for SARS eFiling and don't have eFiling profile, visit your nearest SARS branch or get in touch with us, we are happy to assist you at all times.
