Entrepreneur Connect Breakfast: Panelist Intro #3

Lastly but definitely not least, we are excited to introduce our third panelist for this coming Friday's Entrepreneur Connect Breakfast.

Rozelle Johanssen is the Co-Owner of ID with her husband, Shane. Rozelle desire to see people reach their full potential in life and business, gained traction after school when she completed her degree in Psychology. Since then, she has worked in various industries including FBOs, NPOs, in both corporate and SME business primarily in people-centred roles such as Human Resources and People Development. Rozelle has continued with her passion and today spends most of her time in iD3 with her husband training others, coaching and consulting with leaders and their teams in change and people engagement. Rozelle has designed and streamlined various people processes and initiatives within both the NPO and Business world.

Some notable achievements that stand out are: the design and implementation of the first FSC (Employment equity) tracking system for RMB Private Bank; being part of a cross functional team who won an innovations award at FNB (the most innovative bank in the world at the time) and winning a competition for the best people engagement process aligned to her divisions’ strategy in Private Banking.

Rozelle also headed up several project teams aimed at: designing high performance teams, graduate and other learning programs; managing change programs along with the coaching required to catalyse and enable the needed change.

After completing her MBA (from USB in 2007) and living her dream of “having a baby on the hip and a briefcase in her hand,” Rozelle left her corporate career in 2015 to take the next step towards realising her desires of owning her own business.

In iD3 is where her creative expression has taken flight … iD3 is a consultancy, learning solutions provider and leadership coaching practice that specializes in change leadership with a focus of “we switch human on”. Here with Shane, her focus is on creating and delivering dynamic off the shelf learning programs, and creative, customised change support interventions that enhance people/human development, potential and engagement.

Some interesting fun facts about Rozelle:
- lead a team who won the Guinness World record for biggest structure built
with tins (the tinned food was then donated to communities in need)
- Co-Published a “play@work” book
- was the focus of mischievous boys who took great delight in her screams as
threw tadpoles down her back
- has sung in person with Darlene Zschech from Hillsong
- has thrown a tantrum this week…
- has two children
- is married to Shane for more than 20 years
- is a Suzelle DIY wanna-be…

Entrepreneur Connect Breakfast: Panelist Intro #2

We are excited to give you a sneak peak background on what you could look forward to next week Friday at our next Entrepreneur Connect Breakfast.

Johan du Preez is an experienced CEO and is well known for his turnaround expertise and is the founder of SAAD Investment Holdings and the Tree of Life Foundation.
He began his career in the USA (California, 1991) where he specialised in the turnaround of large retail “drug” stores (for American Drug Stores, a retail group that owned more than 700 stores). He then moved on to managed healthcare (medical insurance and risk management) and was part of a core team that created a national claims processor (RxAmerica) allowing pharmacies to submit their claims to medical insurers online and in real-time (via a satellite link).

Upon his return to South Africa, he was instrumental in the turnaround of Sanlam Health (health insurance, CEO 1999–2001), led Glacier by Sanlam (retail investments, CEO 2002–2004) and headed the start-up of the financing company Quince Capital (CEO 2006–2009).

He acted as the CEO of the then JSE-listed pharmaceutical company, Cipla Medpro South Africa (August 2012 to June 2013) and during this time concluded an R4.5 billion transaction with Cipla India that saw the delisting of Cipla Medpro. During his involvement with the Sanlam Group, he served on the executive committees of Sanlam Life and Sanlam Investment Management.

Johan obtained the degree M.Pharm in 1989 (University of Pretoria) and holds an MBA from National University in San Diego, California (1996).

It promises to be a great morning of networking, learning and inspiration. If you haven't booked your ticket yet, do so ASAP and grab some friends or colleagues in your network and bring them with.

ENTREPRENEUR CONNECT BREAKFAST: PANELIST INTRO

We introduce to you our first guest speaker for the upcoming Entrepreneur Connect meeting, Kobus Louw, Founder and CEO of Digemy.

Digemy is a Cape Town based edtech company that made it their purpose to change the face of education. They a unique learning platform to disrupt the conventional e-learning model that focusses on completion and “passery”, and transform it to a model focussing on knowledge and mastery. The Digemy knowledge partner is a multiple award winning e-learning platform that uses algorithms to measure the knowledge of a learner on a specific topic and then tailors the learning process and repetition of content to the knowledge of a learner in a fun, gamified way. By doing this, they use learning as an optimisation tool to increase knowledge and engagement while decreasing the time spent learning, ultimately optimising the resources and outcomes of the learning process. They create both business to business as well as business to consumer solutions, serve some of the biggest brands in Africa, and was recognised as the 2nd best tech startup in Africa according to Africa Tech Week in 2019.

Doing business with purpose... Is it a Pie in the sky idea or is it possible?

Here is the reallife story of Francois Van Niekerk and the Mergon story.

Thank you for sharing Mergon and keeping on to doing . Shofar Durbanville

‘That was it. The thing any entrepreneur dreads most. Insolvency was imminent,’ recalls Francois van Niekerk, founder of the Mergon Group.

‘However, I asked the client if I could still come over for coffee. He offered to give me all the coffee I wanted but made it clear that the decision was final. Our little business would be another statistic the following day.

On the way to their offices with no strategy whatsoever, I stood under a large Jacaranda tree and simply asked God to help me. I didn’t know God well back then, but surely He would consider helping me, if I prayed? Maybe due to unfamiliarity or because I felt the need to bring something to the table, I offered Him 30% of the company if He answered my prayer.

It’s as if God immediately took ownership of the company that day in 1980 because, before our coffee even arrived, our business was saved. What happened that morning in September 1980 was a radical turning point in my life and is the core of my testimony.’
