Happy International Women’s Day!
As we celebrate this special day, under the theme “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world ”, we have to remain cognisant of women’s immense capabilities in leading and achieving astounding heights, all they require are the opportunities and resources to do so.
“We need women’s representation that reflects all women and girls in all their diversity and abilities, and across all cultural, social, economic and political situations. This is the only way we will get real societal change that incorporates women in decision-making as equals and benefits us all” – Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuko, Women Executive Director
Black women, especially from marginalized communities are often left out of leadership conversations, and yet, they lead poor and vulnerable households with the utmost grace and dignity on a daily basis. The task is clear, we need to give women the necessary platforms and support in order for them to thrive, because when a woman thrives, society thrives.
