I came across a question that keeps showing up:

Why is African fashion so expensive?

But the more I sit with it, the more I realise—

It’s not a pricing problem.

It’s a systems problem.

What we’re seeing in the final price is everything happening behind the scenes:
fragmented supply chains,
limited infrastructure,
and missing trade pathways.

In many ways, designers are absorbing the cost of what doesn’t yet exist.

This piece is me thinking through that.
