Happy heavenly 89th birthday to my grandfather 🤍🕊️

Today is always a reflective day for me. I spent some time having coffee, journalling, eating cake and thinking about you — about the man you were, the life you gave me, and the woman I am still becoming because of you, Mvelase.

You were more than my grandfather. You were my father, my protector, my teacher and one of the greatest influences on my life. I still yearn for you to come back, but I find comfort in believing that we will meet again one day ❤️

People often tell me that I look like you, speak like you, or that I carry myself like you. I cannot think of a greater compliment. To be likened to such an incredible human being is an honour I will carry with me forever x

I hope wherever you are, you’re looking down on me with pride. I hope the woman I am becoming makes you proud, Qhudeni 🥹🤍

Happy birthday to my 1st best friend, my mom, uMamthembu ❤️🎂✨

Today I celebrate a woman of God, a woman of strength, resilience, grace and immense courage. A woman who fought for her education and built a life for herself, even while raising two children as a single mother. A woman who has been through so much, yet somehow continues to show up for the people she loves with so much generosity, love and compassion.

As the first-born daughter in our family, she carries the responsibility that comes with that position with so much respect, dignity and honour. And as her first-born daughter, I feel incredibly honoured and privileged to call her my mother x

Now, do we bump heads? 😂 Absolutely! We both have VERY strong personalities, and neither of us is particularly interested in backing down. 😂❤️ But underneath all of that, there is a love between us that nothing can change. She is my mom, my first best friend, and one of the people I will forever be grateful to have in my life.

Mom, I am so proud of the woman you have become. I know there is still so much you want to accomplish, so many dreams you still want to pursue and so much life ahead of you. And I want you to know that I am here, cheering you on every step of the way ❤️
