Keeping your staff and premises safe and secure is no easy task in todays times. We take a look at how best you can do this.
First it is important to assess your current risks. Understand what gaps you have in your current security plan, determine what types of crime you are most at risk of facing. What can you afford?
We recommend the 5D assessment plan when determining your security plan and implementing your stratergy going forward.
Deter.
Criminals are in general opportunists so if it looks difficult to access a property the criminal will in all likely move on. This would be electric fences, motion lights, gates, fences and warning signs .
Detect.
Should a criminal get past your first line of defence your second line will be your detection system. This would be your CCTV cameras and alarm systems. These systems need to be linked to a control room where where armed response can be dispatched immediately.
Deny.
Your third line of defense is your access control. Managing who enters and leaves your premises is important, keys can too easily get lost or stolen and land up in the wrong hands. Biometrics allows easy removal of access to staff who leave or lost cards or to delete profiles.
Delay.
It is important to delay a potential criminal from getting away easily. This can be done by securing equipment to desks, locking stock rooms. Many crimes take place during work hours by criminals familiar with your surroundings.
Defend.
Having security guards or an effective armed response company is imperative for the success of your security plan.
