AHS Transport Research Project

EXPERIENCES OF WORKERS WITH DISABILTIES IN THE TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

AHS is conducting research on mobility and the experiences of WORKERS / EMPLOYEES with Disabilities within the SA transport systems. We are looking for persons following disabilities to participated in this activity:

• Deaf / Hearing Impairments (x 2)
• Physical Impairments (x 2)
• Blind / Visual Impairment (x 2)
• Intellectual Impairments (x 2)

This will be in a form of a Focus Group which will be held online for just about 30 – 45 Minibus. So participants need to have a Smartphone or PC to able be access to the online interview. (NB: While no payment will be made for the interviews, all participants will be compensated with R150 airtime vouchers for their time).

This participation is voluntary, however, your contribution will enhance a better transport solution for persons with disabilities and total socio-economic participation through accessible transport.

Entrepeneurship Course

Trade App is offering a 12-month Entrepreneurship Course for persons with disabilities from Eastern Cape, Free State, Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces. This is an online course, so the participate can study and work from the listed provinces. The Sonke trade app functions as the workplace.

Requirements
Ages 18 – 30
Must not be permanently employed
Must have access to a smartphone or laptop or computers\
Should be able to receive and send email, Whatsapp and SMS at regular intervals.
Benefits
· R1250 Monthly allowance
· A 30 Gig per month data bundle
· If the person Is on another training programme, this can be their practical training and the course can fit into that.
· Must have the ability and resources to receive via email, download, print and courier documents, agreements and assignments.

Invitation to contribute with your 'voice' towards inclusive transport!

ACCESSILE TRANSPORT NEEDS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

On behalf of Access Human Solutions, we are conducting a consumer needs analysis exercise aimed towards the development of disabled people's accessible transport system that would be reliable, affordable, safe while enhancing independence and dignity throughout the trip.

We are inviting you to participate in giving us your voice by completing a questionnaire consists of 16 questions. Some questions have answers to choose from and space to fill in whenever necessary. This should not take longer than 10 minutes to complete.

Your identity and that of the organization will remain entirely confidential and no personal information will be requested. Therefore, you are not required to provide your name or surname.

The questionnaires will be captured in the electronic password-protected data file after filling and click the submit button. Once the data analysis is completed, the anonymized results will be used in the development of inclusive transport. In addition, the findings will also be used to provide a general report to the organizations and individuals who took part in the study if requested. The report will include feedback on how to improve the transport and mobility experiences of disabled people and the Deaf in South Africa. The final copy of the full report findings will be held by Access Human Solutions (AHS) in partnership with the National Council of & for People with Disabilities (NCPD). Furthermore, the anonymized data and results may be used for peer-reviewed academic publications in journals or to present at conferences. At no point will individual results be reported only the total group results.
