The winery forms part of larger holistic farming business called ‘De Rust Estate'. In addition to the vineyards and cellar, there are apple and pear orchards, a Hereford stud and eco-tourism activities, including amphitheatre concerts, on the farm. The estate forms part of the UNESCO world heritage site, the Kogelberg Biosphere. Half of the estate has been set aside for conservation into perpetuity.

Elgin in a Glass: Paul Clüver's Cool-Climate Story Earns Tim Atkin Recognition

At Paul Clüver Family Wines, our focus has always been on expressing the unique character of Elgin through cool-climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling.

The latest Tim Atkin MW ratings reflect that journey, with nine wines scoring 90 points or above, led by the 95-point Clüver Prieur Colline du Matin Chardonnay 2025.

In a vintage Tim Atkin MW describes as one of the finest of his lifetime, these wines showcase the elegance, freshness and sense of place for which Elgin has become internationally recognised.

These results reflect far more than the wines themselves; they recognise the dedication of our vineyard and cellar teams, the character of our Elgin terroir, and a family commitment to producing wines that genuinely reflect where they come from.
