The winery forms part of larger holistic farming business called ‘De Rust Estate'. In addition to the vineyards and cellar, there are apple and pear orchards, a Hereford stud and eco-tourism activities, including amphitheatre concerts, on the farm. The estate forms part of the UNESCO world heritage site, the Kogelberg Biosphere. Half of the estate has been set aside for conservation into perpetuity.

Paul Clüver Family W**es is pleased to be part of Caroline’s 2026 White W**e & Cap Classique Review, where we’ll be presenting our Estate Chardonnay alongside w**es from some of the country’s leading producers.

There is more growing at De Rust Estate than just vines.

A recent walk to just below the summit of Aasvoëlkop, with Peter Breitenbach from HH CREW, brought two particularly special discoveries: Brunia pillansii, with only four recorded observations to date, and Erica stagnalis minor, with just three.

Through the work of the Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers (CREW) programme, plants like these are surveyed and documented to help build a better understanding of South Africa’s rare and threatened flora.

Finding species like these on the landscape surrounding our vineyards is a reminder of just how much there is to protect at De Rust Estate.

The Cape W**emakers Guild Auction takes place on 2–3 October, and this year Andries Burger will be representing Paul Clüver W**es with two w**es: The Wagon Trail Chardonnay 2025 and our CWG Pinot Noir Selection.

The Wagon Trail Chardonnay 2025 comes from our heritage Chardonnay vineyard, planted in 1987, with nearly four decades of vines contributing to the w**e’s depth, structure and character.

We’re proud to have both w**es represented at this year’s Guild Auction and look forward to sharing the occasion with the wider w**e community.
