Start Up Huddle Fish Hoek

Start Up Huddle Fish Hoek Start up huddles are programs in the GEN network.

The Global Entrepreneurship Network operates a platform of projects and programs in 180+ countries aimed at making it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a business. Startup Huddle is a program designed to help one entrepreneur at a time while strengthening the local ecosystem. Entrepreneurs discover solutions to the challenges they face through purposeful engagement with a broad array

of voices from their local community. The Startup Huddle format is consistent in each location: at a consistent meeting place, one or two early-stage startup founders give a six-minute presentation about their company to a diverse audience from their local community. Each presentation is followed by a 20-minute question and answer session where the community provides ideas, connections and feedback for the entrepreneur.

Renshias path to entrepreneurship started in 2016 and was born out of frustration and necessity. Unemployed for 2 years, not able to find work and had four children to feed. She started growing veggies to feed her family and realized that so many people needed the same skills and food.
She took a leap of faith and started GrowBox, with no money, no savings and no income, only the determination to leave a legacy to her children.
She has grown so much, learning to manage her resources, her business, learning new skills and lots of personal development. She is striving to strengthen her ability to recognize commercial opportunities.

Meet our second presenter at our upcoming Start-Up huddle on 10 February 2022
Shakeel Karjieker graduated from UCT in 2002 and had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and there was no guidance to speak of on career choices.
He received his very first business, a failing business, a gift from his dad and from here Global Unique Fabrics brand was born.
The first 10 years were tough and left him feeling burnt out with not much to show for it. He met a mentor who helped him change his life.
Today he is the CEO of his own company with several other business interests and was awarded South Africa’s National Entrepreneur Champion 2020.
His determination, drive, and ability to look at personal failures to grow have helped him create a life that he loves.
He is on a mission to support and guide others in their entrepreneurial journey so that they can live out their ultimate potential and create abundance in their lives.
