High on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, the single-vineyard Leeu Passant 2024 Stellenbosch Chardonnay takes shape in a remarkable corner of the Cape W**elands.

At 400 metres above sea level, the vineyard’s red, gravelly soils and proximity to False Bay and the cool Atlantic bring a distinctive maritime influence. Cooling breezes, temperate days, and gentle nights allow the fruit to develop with beautiful intensity while retaining its signature freshness.

The 2024 vintage is an elegant expression of this exceptional site, bringing together layered texture, concentrated flavour, and vibrant natural acidity in beautifully measured balance.

Inspired by the world’s great oxidatively aged white w**es, it is crafted from Chardonnay picked at optimal ripeness, followed by fermentation and an extended period of barrel ageing spanning several years.

From South Africa’s oldest red w**e vineyard, planted in 1900, the 2024 Leeu Passant Wellington Cinsault continues the vineyard's remarkable and historic evolution.

Our most floral vintage to date, this deeply aromatic w**e opens with violets, raspberry, thyme and red cherry on the nose.

The palate reveals pomegranate complexity and exceptionally fine, silky tannins.

The 2023 Leeu Passant matured for an initial eleven months in 500L French oak barrels, one-third of which were new. It was then blended and aged for an additional eleven months in seasoned 2000L foudres. The w**e was only released after a further fifteen months in bottle.

Inspired by South African vinous greats from the middle of the previous century, there is no wonder why it is the pinnacle of our portfolio.

After five years in oak, the 2020 Leeu Passant Radicales Libres reveals itself as a rare, highly complex expression of extended barrel-aged Chardonnay, with flavours and aromas ranging from warm crêpes with lemon juice to green almond to saffron-laced dried fruit - finishing with a saline precision.
