There's something about spring in Franschhoek. The vineyards are turning green, the days are getting longer, and lunches have a way of stretching well into the afternoon.

It's a particularly good time to rediscover Amalie.

Our 2024 Amalie brings together Grenache Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Viognier in a Rhône-inspired white blend that recently earned five stars in the 2026 Platter's W**e Guide.

Heritage isn’t only what we inherit. It’s what we choose to carry forward.

At Solms-Delta, our story reaches back to 1690. More than three centuries of people, land, farming, music, food and w**e have shaped this small piece of Franschhoek.

But South African heritage is never one story. It is many stories, cultures and traditions, shared and still being written.

Today we celebrate all of them, and our responsibility to leave something meaningful for the generations still to come.

Grenache deserves more attention. Today, on International Grenache Day, we’re celebrating the family from its lighter side.

Our 2024 Grenache Blanc is distinctly Solms-Delta: a South African expression of a grape with deep Mediterranean roots, made for long lunches, good food and a proper Franschhoek kuier.

Grenache has a bit of an identity problem.

It is one of the world’s great w**e grapes, widely planted across the Mediterranean and beyond, yet many w**e drinkers rarely see the word Grenache on the bottle. It often disappears into regional names and blends.

And then there’s Grenache Blanc. The white mutation of Grenache gets even less attention, which is a shame. It can produce beautifully textured, expressive w**es with freshness, body and a character quite different from the usual white varieties filling the shelves.

We’ve always thought it deserved a little more attention. That’s why Grenache Blanc has an important place at Solms-Delta, both in our w**es and as a variety we think more people should discover.

At Solms-Delta, we are surrounded by history. Our roots in Franschhoek reach back more than three centuries.

But history only matters if we also invest in what comes next.

Today we celebrate South Africa’s young people: the entrepreneurs, farmers, artists, w**emakers, scientists and leaders who will shape a country very different from the one previous generations inherited.

Our responsibility is to make sure they have the opportunity to do it.

The future of South Africa belongs to them. And it deserves our investment.
