Just some outdoor enrichment for our reticulated python.

A change of environment, new scents, and natural light all play an important role in keeping reptiles stimulated and engaged. Enrichment like this encourages natural behaviours and supports overall wellbeing in our care.

Always a fascinating reminder of just how adaptable and aware these incredible snakes are when given the right conditions.

The fish are biting and the dam is calling!

Make it a full-day outing by pairing your fishing session with a waterside braai and plenty of sunshine. Fresh air, cold drinks, good company, that’s a perfect summer weekend.

Crocodile Egg update

As part of nature’s natural cycle, not all of our crocodile eggs successfully hatch. While it’s always disappointing, this is a normal and important part of reptile development in both wild and managed environments.

Even in these moments, there is value in observation and learning, helping us better understand the conditions and behaviours that influence successful hatching in the future.

Thank you for following along with our hatchling updates and supporting the journey of these incredible animals.

Feeding time for our bearded dragons.

There’s nothing quite like watching these fascinating reptiles in action as they enjoy a well-deserved meal, alert, active, and full of personality up close.

Fun fact: Bearded dragons are omnivores, meaning they eat both insects and plants. They rely on quick reflexes to catch moving prey, and they also use a gentle “arm wave” as a way to communicate that they are calm and not a threat to other dragons.

Come visit us and see our reptiles in action for yourself during your next tour or weekend showcase!

Rainy days don’t stop the learning; they just bring it closer.

Today, the Grade 1 learners from Northpine Primary School enjoyed an unforgettable Travelling Reptile Showcase at Le Bonheur, with safe, up-close look-and-feel experiences hosted indoors. Guided by Matthew Khumalo, curiosity quickly turned into confidence as young learners met some incredible reptiles while staying warm and dry.

Educational, interactive, and perfectly suited for any weather, our Travelling Reptile Showcase brings wildlife learning right to the children, wherever they are.

Some of Anusuya Chinsamy-Turan’s publications explore the fascinating world of bone microstructures and how living reptiles, like crocodiles, help us better understand prehistoric life and dinosaur growth patterns.

If you’re visiting Le Bonheur Reptile Adventures, be sure to pop into our curio shop, you might just find some of her publications available for purchase, alongside locally made gifts and wildlife-inspired keepsakes.
