Tim Atkin is one of the most respected voices in wine, a Master of Wine and past Louis Roederer Wine Columnist of the Year, whose annual reports are read and re-quoted across the industry. Recognition across this many wines, from Elgin to Simonsberg-Paarl, says something about the work happening in the vineyards and the cellar, season after season.

A TRUE TALE OF TWO TERROIRS | We are pleased to share that Ella Grenache 2023 and Early Mist Riesling 2025 have both been named National Winners at the SA Terroir Awards, Ella Grenache for Simonsberg-Paarl and Early Mist Riesling for Elgin.

Ella is grown on the northeastern slopes of Simonsberg Mountain, where decomposed granite and sandy loam soils give the wine red fruit purity and fine, sandy tannins. Early Mist is grown at Casey's Ridge in Elgin, one of the coolest and mistiest sites in the Cape winelands, known for its bright acidity and mineral edge.

Since 1688, our family has believed that great wine begins with honest terroir. It is an honour to have that belief recognised twice over.

Some mornings just stay with you. 💙

Nestled beneath the Simonsberg mountains at Vrede en Lust, Peace and Passion, we gathered as women to breathe, restore, and remember what actually matters.

This Women's Month we celebrated The Grace of Becoming Her. Not who the world needs us to be. Who we are becoming, quietly, intentionally, together.

We moved through breathwork. We listened to voices that healed. We shared food made with love, grown from the earth, served around one table. Classic Blue Zone, the kind of living that fills you up without asking you to shrink.

And through it all, the wines of this incredible estate, the mountains holding space, and the generosity of our incredible sponsor RAIN Natural Skincare reminding us that true beauty starts from within.

Last summer filled our cups, quite literally.

Hot days across the estate. More couples than ever saying “I do” against the Simonsberg. We watched so many new memories take root here, welcomed you into our rooms and cottages, and raised a glass at celebration after celebration. Every one of them a privilege to be part of.

Now it’s winter, and the farm is doing what it does every year at this time: resting, renewing, getting ready. The gardens have gone quiet, the Manor House is calm, and the vines are taking their break too. But already, we’re dreaming about the summer of 2026/27.

Here’s to new couples, new stays, and the next chapter of what our family has been building for 338 years. It’s a story we never take for granted, and one we’re so grateful to keep sharing with you.
