Pacemakers and certain implants must be removed before cremation.

Pacemakers and any implants that contain batteries or which are battery operated must be removed before cremation. These devices can be dangerous and may explode during the cremation process due to the high temperatures in the cremator.

Speak to your preferred Funeral Director or contact any of the 3 offices within the Olivier & Vermeulen Funeral Homes Group to inform them if your loved one has a pacemaker or any other battery operated implant.

A person does not sit up during cremation. Cremation is a safe and controlled process, carried out at very high temperatures in a purpose=built cremator. There is no explosion during the process.
