They ask different questions.

They notice assumptions.

They bring experience from industries you may know nothing about.

Sometimes the value is not a referral.

The challenge is that we often assume what we know is obvious.

It is not.

Share what you have learned.

Ask questions.

Talk about mistakes as well as wins.

A strong network should make everybody in the room better at business.

Here is one networking habit worth practising.

Stop trying to meet everybody.

Instead, get to know a smaller number of people properly.

Understand their business.

Understand their ideal client.

Understand the problems they solve.

Then help them do the same with yours.

Ten strong business relationships will usually be more useful than one hundred business cards sitting in a drawer.
