On this World Ranger day we want to thank the Rangers past and present for their commitment and dedication to conserving our natural heritage, as well as remembering the Rangers who have lost their lives while performing their duties.

This week we are sponsoring training and equipment to 10 Rangers from K9 units on different reserves.

The hard reality of conservation is it truly has two sides.

The dark side is sadly what Rangers have to endure, the ugly hard side of what should be a truly beautiful job.

Human greed knows no limits and nothing is sacred.

Snares are cruel, indiscriminate walls of death for wild animals, livestock and pets.

We removed these snares this morning and found this poor duiker that was dumped after having just the best meat cuts removed.

These snares are sadly being set by full-time employed people. No poverty, no hunger, just some fun and extra cash.

We are finding more snares and dog hunting taking place on the farms between reserves, it starts small and if not addressed quickly will end up with more serious illegal wildlife crimes.

It's not just a snare it's a gateway to a bigger problem.
