The Forgotten Color Variant of the Impala:
The Royal Impala.

The Royal Impala, also known as the dilute mutation (recessive), represents one of the rarest and most captivating coat color variations in Impalas. This mutation is not a new color, but a genetic change affecting how pigment is distributed in the animal’s hair. A dilute mutation causes pigment granules in the hair shaft to clump together and spread unevenly. This results in a noticeably lighter, ‘washed-out’ appearance. Unlike other common color variants, this mutation alters the expression of the base color, essentially softening it instead of creating an entirely new hue.

Once the range of Impala mutations and their genetics are fully understood, it becomes clear why the Royal Impala is poised to become one of the most sought-after and prized color variants in the near future.
