Focused on targeted marketing for local businesses we also specialize in your mountain hiking exploring nature therapy experience! We make adventures happen, drop us a whatsapp on 082 441 8088 or email [email protected] with your questions or to request more information. At The Mountain Company we arrange half and full day hikes and most of our events are aimed at a
complete experie
nce where the focus is on time in nature and a total disconnection from all that is
materialistic and artificial back in the ‘real’ world. We try to create an awareness not only for the
synchronicity between humans and fauna and flora but also between our own heads and hearts, the
mind and the body. We create an environment where even relatively unfit or first time hikers feel
welcome and comfortable. Our aim is to facilitate an achievement for these people that they thought
was impossible. We pride ourselves on offering hikers as much information and security as
reassurement. Our guides carry two way radios that are linked not only to one another but also to our
local neighbor hood security company, police and fire department. We facilitate hikes on marked public trails but have mapped many routes on private properties not
accessible to the public without guides. In other words we cater for fun first timers and also for the fitter
faster experienced hiker on the longer full day hikes. Many ask us to take groups outside of the
Magoebaskloof area but we will not. The area we love, the area we
have a deep passion for and where we not only know what views you will like but can entertain you with
stories of locals and those that lived here long before we were born. The Haenertsburg Magoebaskloof
area has a rich and interesting history attracting authors, artists, nature lovers and story tellers. The shortened version of my life story is I work to live and not live to work following that motto ‘Love
what you do and you will never work a day in your life”
I have been in the signage, graphics and photographic industry for more than 35 years and the fee we
charge is actually for the edited photos and two to three minute video clip compiled in the many hours
post hike, sometimes late into the evening. I have an addiction because all else sits at my wayside and
the photographs are all that matter in that moment. Simply put I am a photo editing addict. It is here I
lose myself back into the world I had walked through with hikers and every time I realize that I had
shared in unique energies with strangers that became friends, so privileged to have had the company. If
I am to be honest with myself that although my interests and activities are diverse my utmost passion
lies in the visual story a photograph can tell. To capture a moment or a view is also what inspires me to
get out of the manmade world and into nature. I spent my youth chasing medals and stop watches,
triathlon events, gym sessions, aerobics and fitness competitions, running and cycling races. I went
everywhere fast and in hindsight missed out on the little things, the really meaningful moments. However rather late than never I found my joy in the great outdoors going somewhere slowly, with
gratitude and appreciation. I could continue rambling on about why you should join us but perhaps the following paragraph will
surmise everything further I could say. No matter on which trail you walk you will feel like it is yours, that you belong there, you will question
the meaning of life, you will ponder the immense vastness of the planet, you will marvel at nature. The
challenge of the climb, the sound of your breath and beating heart like you had never noticed it before
reminding you how alive you truly are. The challenge of that word gravity resonating in every step you
take but you know there is a reward ahead whilst the views distract you, the silence on the slopes, the
wind on your face. You start encouraging fellow hikers and you begin to realise that contentment and
gratitude come not from money or material things but rather from all that which money cannot buy and
as you discover nature and yourself you might just join me in loving a mountain.
