JOB OPPORTUNITY: FIXED-TERM CONTRACT (5 MONTHS)

Employer: Untum Recycling
Partner: Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE)
Contract Duration: 5 Months

Untum Recycling, in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), invites suitably qualified and motivated individuals to apply for the following fixed-term contract positions as part of an environmental and recycling programme.

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
All applicants must be residents of Nkomazi Municipality. Proof of residence may be required. Applicants must be 35 years or younger

AVAILABLE POSITIONS
1. Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Officers (2 Positions)

Requirements:

Relevant OHS qualification (e.g. SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent)
Knowledge of OHS legislation and compliance
Experience in waste management, recycling, construction, or industrial environments will be an advantage
Strong reporting and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with OHS standards and regulations
Conduct site inspections and risk assessments
Implement safety protocols and incident reporting
Promote a culture of health and safety on site

2. Graduate Trainees (7 Positions)

Requirements:

3-year degree or diploma (preferably in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Waste Management, Sustainability, or related fields)
Recently graduated or early-career professionals encouraged to apply
Strong interest in environmental protection and recycling initiatives
Good communication and data collection skills

Key Responsibilities:

Support recycling and waste management operations
Assist with data collection, reporting, and monitoring
Participate in community and environmental initiatives
Gain practical workplace experience in the green economy

3. General Workers (12 Positions)

Requirements:

Minimum Matric (Grade 12)
Willingness to work in a recycling and waste management environment
Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks
Prior experience in waste sorting or recycling will be an advantage

Key Responsibilities:

Sorting and handling recyclable materials
General site cleaning and support duties
Assisting with operational activities at recycling facilities
Adhering to safety and operational procedures
