2026 SHIRAZ CHALLENGE REFLECTS DIVERSITY OF SOUTH AFRICAN SHIRAZ
The winners of the 14th Shiraz SA Challenge were revealed at an illustrious awards ceremony on Thursday 6th August in Paarl. The event, attended by all the finalists and wine industry celebrities, was preceded by a tasting of the finalist wines, at The Venue and followed by the annual Shiraz SA Awards Function at Blacksmith's Kitchen.
Fermentis By Lesaffre, global leader in yeast and fermentation solutions, has been on board as annual silver sponsor since 2025 for the Shiraz SA Awards as well as other activities hosted by the organisation throughout the year.

CALLING THE FINEST - VERITAS 2026 ENTRIES NOW OPEN

This year’s Veritas Awards entries have just opened – the country’s foremost and oldest wine competition for market-ready wine – and winemakers and viticulturists’ excitement are mounting along with that of wine lovers countrywide.

Participants in this year’s competition are now encouraged to enter via the online platform (https://veritas-entries.foneworx.co.za/) which is a collaboration between Veritas and its financial partner SA Litho.

This considerably streamlines providing information for the competition, whose closing date for entries is 7 August, while late entries at an increased fee will be accepted until 19 August 2026.

2026 Wine Awards season is in full swing - this week two of 's clients are judging:

🍷 Shiraz SA - Tuesday 23 – Friday 26 June. The cream of South Africa's Shiraz and Syrah producers will be recognised at the Shiraz SA Awards Function on Thursday, 6 August, with awards presented to the country's top 12 Shiraz wines, five Shiraz blends and one Shiraz rosé.

🥂 SA Terroir Awards - Tuesday 23 – Friday 26 June.
The SA Terroir Wine Awards was founded to showcase the great wines from which all the grapes come from a specific soil and climate terrain (international term for specific wine growing terrain is the French word “Terroir”.
The results and winners will be announced at a luncheon on 12 August at the Lanzerac Hotel and Spa and will be televised on ontbytSAKE shortly afterwards on DSTV channels 144 and 145.
