When a crime or attempted crime takes place, reporting it to SAPS and opening a case can make a real difference.

Even when nothing is stolen or damage is minimal, an official case creates a record of what happened. This can help SAPS identify patterns, connect incidents and build stronger cases when the same individuals are linked to repeated criminal activity.

Security teams can respond, investigate and apprehend suspects, but where a crime has been committed, the formal reporting process plays an important role in what happens next.

A strong community effort in Silverglades this week brought residents, neighbourhood watch members, security, Law Enforcement, City officials and Waste Disposal together for a coordinated patrol of the area.

Deep Blue Security was pleased to support the initiative by providing a security officer to join the patrol.

The operation focused on concerns affecting the wider area stretching from Fish Hoek Station towards the Main Road wetlands bridge and Sun Valley, with Law Enforcement addressing problem areas and structures.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time and played a part. Community safety works best when residents, neighbourhood watches, security services and authorities communicate, report concerns and work together.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report concerning activity promptly to the appropriate authorities.

At approximately 08:00 this Saturday morning, Deep Blue Security received a call from a client reporting an intruder on her Hout Bay property.

All available response vehicles were dispatched and, within minutes, Armed Response Officers had apprehended the suspect.

The individual was found in possession of a large quantity of suspected stolen property. Further investigation indicated that the items had allegedly been taken from another private property that the suspect had gained access to.

Hout Bay SAPS was notified and the suspect was handed over to the police.

A swift response and another positive outcome for the community.

At approximately 07:04 on 20th September 2026, Deep Blue Security CCTV operators identified two individuals acting suspiciously near a fence line close to private properties.

Response Officers conducted patrols of the surrounding area but were initially unable to locate the suspects. A closer inspection later revealed that CCTV camera cables at the rear of a private property had been cut.

The team continued monitoring the area and, at approximately 10:52, CCTV operators identified a known suspect dumping items into a bin. Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched.

Two suspects were subsequently apprehended. During the investigation, officers recovered suspected housebreaking tools, knives, stolen cables and electrical equipment.

Both suspects were transported to Hout Bay police station, where they were formally handed over to the authorities.

**Post Update: Location - Marina da Gama**

At approximately 04:01 on Monday, 21st September, Deep Blue Security CCTV operators identified an individual outside a private property who appeared to be signalling towards the camera for assistance.

Armed Response Officers were alerted and, on investigation, learned that a resident had allegedly been attacked with an axe following a forced entry into the property.

According to information received at the scene, the suspect allegedly broke through a door and lock and took the resident’s cellphone. A physical altercation followed, during which the resident was reportedly attacked.

The suspect was handed over to SAPS.

On Tuesday, 22nd September, a suspect wanted in connection with multiple reported theft incidents was apprehended near Beach Crescent in Hout Bay.

Deep Blue Security Armed Response Officers assisted at the scene. The suspect was linked to three separate theft incidents, including an incident at a local business.

The suspect was transported directly to the police station, where he was successfully handed over.

Excellent coordination between the team helped bring another positive outcome for the community.

At approximately 16:22 on Wednesday, 23 September, Deep Blue Security CCTV operators identified two individuals acting suspiciously and appearing to pose as bin pickers in Hout Bay.

The individuals were observed entering an unlocked vehicle, prompting the immediate dispatch of Armed Response Officers.

Both suspects were apprehended and the owner of the vehicle was located. No items appeared to have been stolen. However, during a search of the suspects, officers found what appeared to be a toy gun in their possession.

Both suspects were subsequently transported to Hout Bay Police Station.

A report was received of an individual attempting to climb through the window of a private residence in Fish Hoek before jumping into a neighbouring property.

Deep Blue Security and SAPS were alerted, and the suspect was subsequently identified on private property. With assistance from members of the community, security and SAPS, the property was secured and the suspect apprehended.

The suspect was arrested for attempted housebreaking, as well as a separate case of trespassing relating to a client’s property in Fish Hoek earlier that morning.

A strong example of what can be achieved when residents, SAPS and local security work together and share information quickly.

A suspicious vehicle linked to several vehicle-related theft cases was added to the Deep Blue Security LPR system following incidents in Marina da Gama.

At 16:18 on Tuesday, 15 September, the system identified the vehicle entering the area. An Armed Response Officer was immediately dispatched and located it parked outside a Marina da Gama property.
Working alongside SAPS, officers maintained surveillance until the vehicle left the area. It was followed to Military Road, where Muizenberg SAPS intercepted it and detained four suspects in connection with three vehicle theft cases in Muizenberg and Diep River.

The vehicle was booked in at Bellville South SAPS for further investigation.

This coordinated response demonstrates the value of technology, vigilance and strong partnerships in protecting our communities.
