We are a well-established South African company with a rich history stretching back to the early 1930s. Initially, we were a subsidiary of the American Roller Mill Corporation, but today, we're proud to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of O-Line Support Systems, which itself became part of the German company OBO Bettermann back in 2012.
Our core business revolves around providing engineered products primarily for the construction, mining, and road safety sectors. We've structured our operations into three main business units:
Our Construction Products division is where we manufacture a wide variety of corrugated steel structures. You'll find our culverts, bridge structures, stockpile reclaim tunnels, and other innovative solutions in civil engineering and mining projects all across Africa. We believe our products offer great value, being economical and often quicker and easier to install than traditional concrete alternatives. We can create a range of profiles and sizes, including what we call "superspan" structures for larger applications.
In our Road Safety Products division, we are a leading supplier of critical road safety infrastructure. Many people in Southern Africa will be familiar with our W-beam guardrails – in fact, the term "Armco barrier" has almost become a generic name for these. Beyond guardrails, we also supply wire rope systems, crash cushions, and various delineation products. We also partner with international manufacturers to distribute their road safety products.
Finally, we offer hot-dip Galvanizing services. This is crucial for protecting steel from corrosion, and we provide this service not only for our own manufactured goods but also for external clients. Our galvanizing plants adhere to important quality standards like SANS 121 / ISO 1461.
Our head office and main manufacturing facility are based in Isando, Johannesburg – very conveniently located near O.R. Tambo International Airport. To serve our customers effectively, we also have a network of agents and depots in other parts of South Africa, and we actively market our products throughout the African continent. We take quality very seriously and hold SABS ISO 9001 certification. Our aim is always to provide durable, cost-effective solutions, particularly for demanding environments like the mining industry, where our corrugated metal structures are used for things like haul road overpasses, underpasses, and decline tunnels.
