[A ZIMBABWEAN NATIONAL ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY MANUFACTURING FRAUDULENT SA IDENTITY CARDS]

Police in Johannesburg have arrested a Zimbabwean national for allegedly manufacturing fraudulent South African identity cards.

On Wednesday, 9 September 2026, police received information about a man allegedly recruiting people who required South African smart identity cards, as well as forged bank statements and payslips.

Following verification of the information, police conducted an operation in the Hillbrow policing precinct. The operation resulted in the search and seizure of six SA smart identity cards, 22 blank SA smart identity cards, a laptop and a smart card printing machine.

A Zimbabwean national was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear in court soon.

Investigation in this case continues.

Police would like to warn members of the public against participating in the illegal manufacture or acquisition of fraudulent identity documents and other forged documentation.

MAMELODI CIT ROBBERY: COMMUNITY MEMBER ARRESTED

A young Mamelodi resident has been arrested after allegedly removing a firearm from a cash-in-transit vehicle following a deadly robbery in Mamelodi Extension 16.

Two security officers were killed and another remains in hospital after heavily armed suspects attacked the cash van using high-calibre fi****ms and explosives.

Police recovered a firearm believed to have been taken from the scene.

The suspect is expected to face charges including robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. Further arrests have not been ruled out.

TWO FOREIGN NATIONALS ARRESTED IN R100M MANDRAX LAB BUST

Two foreign nationals in their late 30s were arrested in Erasmia, Pretoria, on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, after police uncovered an alleged illicit drug manufacturing laboratory.

The Hawks’ SANEB, Crime Intelligence, K9 West Rand and Special Task Force conducted the operation after receiving intelligence about the suspected lab.

Police discovered Mandrax manufacturing operations valued at an estimated R100 million, as well as another laboratory allegedly being prepared for the production of crystal m**h.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 11 September.

MANHUNT UNDERWAY AFTER NISSAN NAVARA STOLEN IN VANDERBIJLPARK

VANDERBIJLPARK – Police have launched a search for suspects after a Nissan Navara was allegedly stolen outside La Oma Butchery in Bedworth.

The suspects allegedly used a signal jammer to prevent the vehicle from locking before making off with the bakkie.

CCTV footage captured a white Volkswagen Polo sedan arriving and waiting nearby. Shortly afterwards, two suspects were seen approaching the Navara before driving away with it.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in locating the stolen vehicle or identifying the suspects to come forward.

SABC NEWS has learned that a third suspect has been arrested in the murder of Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock.
