THREE POLICE OFFICERS ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY HELPING 46 UNDOCUMENTED FOREIGN NATIONALS EVADE ARREST

Three police officers attached to Polokwane International Airport were arrested on 19 October 2026 for allegedly helping 46 undocumented foreign nationals evade arrest.

The group was intercepted along the N1 in April 2025. The officers allegedly collected them at a weighbridge, claiming they were taking them to Polokwane SAPS, but reportedly never booked them into the station.

The officers face charges of defeating the ends of justice and contraventions of the Immigration Act. They are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on 20 October 2026.

Two additional officers are still being sought.

THREE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN SOWETO FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND ROBBERY OF LIMPOPO POLICE OFFICER

Three suspects aged between 26 and 30 have been arrested in Orlando, Soweto, in connection with the alleged attempted murder and robbery of a police officer in Limpopo.

The suspects were arrested on Saturday, 17 October 2026, during an intelligence-driven operation involving the SAPS Provincial Tracking Team, Provincial Investigation Unit and Mopani Tracking Team.

According to police, the incident occurred in August 2026 in Burgersdorp, within the Maake policing area in Mopani District. The suspects allegedly fled to Gauteng following the incident.

Police traced the trio to Orlando, where they were travelling in a white Renault Clio. Several cellphones, bank cards, knives and driver's licences were recovered during the operation. Some of the recovered items are reportedly linked to other cases, including robbery and kidnapping.

Further investigations led police to another suspect who was allegedly found in possession of a fi***rm.

However, the service pistol stolen from the police officer during the robbery remains missing. Police are continuing efforts to recover the weapon, while three additional suspects allegedly linked to the incident are still being sought.

Investigations have reportedly revealed that the group began following the victim's vehicle several days before the robbery, raising suspicions that the officer may have been targeted in advance.

The three arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Orlando Magistrates' Court on Monday, 19 October 2026, before being transported to Limpopo to face the relevant charges.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Petrus Scheepers commended the multidisciplinary teams for their coordinated efforts and vowed that police would continue pursuing all leads until those involved are brought to justice and the stolen service pistol is recovered.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have urged the outstanding suspects to hand themselves over.

BREAKING NEWS | TWO ZIMBABWEAN NATIONALS ARRESTED AFTER SUSPECTED STOLEN LUXURY VEHICLES INTERCEPTED IN LETSITELE

Two Zimbabwean nationals have been detained after a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VX and a Nissan Navara Pro-4X, both suspected of being stolen, were intercepted along the R529 in Letsitele, Limpopo, on Monday morning, 19 October 2026.

The vehicles were intercepted during an intelligence-driven operation after police and private security teams spotted them travelling at high speed.

Inspections allegedly revealed signs of tampering and discrepancies in the vehicles’ registration details and identification numbers.

Further checks reportedly linked the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to a Garsfontein SAPS case and the Nissan Navara to a Wierdabrug SAPS case, both in Gauteng.

The suspects were handed over to Letsitele SAPS and remain in custody as investigations continue. They are expected to appear in court.

OVER 90 SUSPECTED ILLEGAL MINERS ARRESTED IN KRUGERSDORP OPERATION

KRUGERSDORP, GAUTENG – A total of 92 suspected illegal miners have been arrested during a multidisciplinary Operation Prosper / Karabo operation at West Village, Krugersdorp, on Monday, 19 October 2026.

The operation involved the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), SAPS and Department of Home Affairs officials.

Authorities recovered two fi***rms and am******on and seized illegal mining equipment, including phendukas, gas cylinders and explosives.

Operation Prosper / Karabo is an ongoing multidisciplinary initiative targeting illegal mining, gangsterism and related criminal activities across Gauteng.
