Research survey available for anyone interested

The survey is available here: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/oxford/endure-final (english) and https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/oxford/endure-isizulu (isiZulu). I really appreciate every response! It should take 10-15 minutes to complete.

Ms. Josie Everatt is a South African PhD student researching Endometriosis. As part of this, they are running a survey to investigate what it's like to be an Endometriosis patient in South Africa (or to look for a diagnosis if you still don't have one). We want to know about things like how long it took to get a diagnosis, common symptoms, and what you want to see from future endo research.

This has been ethically approved by Stellenbosch and Oxford Universities.

For more info, please feel free contact her at [email protected].

As of May 12, 2026, Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS) has been officially renamed Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). The change, published in The Lancet, follows a 14-year international effort to better reflect the condition's complex, multi-system nature, which includes metabolic, hormonal, and reproductive symptoms rather than just ovarian cysts.

Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) is the new name for the condition previously known as Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS), which impacts 1 in 8, or more than 170 million women worldwide.

The Moment My Pain Finally Had a Name

In January 2019, my life shifted in a way I never expected. I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis after undergoing a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) test. I remember reading about it before while researching Endometriosis. Adenomyosis is often called Endometriosis' “evil twin sister”. I never imagined that the condition I was learning about would one day become my reality.

Yet, deep down, the diagnosis wasn’t entirely shocking. Piece by piece, I had already started connecting the dots, making sense of the pain, the symptoms, and the questions that had lingered for so long. It was a moment filled with both clarity and quiet heartbreak—finally having answers, but also facing a truth I wasn’t ready for.
