Stark takes on our country’s economic inclusion, especially when they miss the mark, tend to ignore a simple truth: our economic landscape didn’t emerge in a vacuum. It was engineered over generations, often to the exclusion of the majority. That legacy doesn’t disappear just because it’s inconvenient to acknowledge.
Economic inclusion isn’t a handout, and it certainly isn’t about entitlement. It’s about equity, correcting structural imbalances so that participation in the economy isn’t reserved for a select few with a head start.

The rules of the game are evolving, as they should. Adapt, engage meaningfully, and contribute to a more inclusive system, or risk being left on the sidelines, still arguing about how the game “used to be played.”
My team has launched a series of thought leadership pieces aimed at correcting false narratives and reaffirming simple truths around economic inclusion.
In this series, we unpack equity ownership in South Africa, demonstrating how organisations can drive meaningful transformation without ceding equity, through structured, measurable investment in the SMME sector. Because a healthy, growing, and sustainable SMME ecosystem isn’t just good policy, it’s a cornerstone of economic growth.
