Meet Celiwe Maboa, a YES Youth from Alexandra turning ambition into action and completing her practical at the Philani Cebekhulu Foundation through the EYWA (Employability for Youth and Women in South Africa) programme.
With no prior qualifications or experience in operations, Celiwe stepped into her role eager to learn. She mastered office operations, built skills like crafting funding applications, and fostered professional relationships. Celiwe’s growth has been nothing short of inspiring.
“It wasn’t easy,” she shares, “but it’s helped me grow in confidence and skill.” Celiwe also credits her Operations Manager, Zoe Msimang, for her patience and unwavering support.
Now, with a clearer vision for the future, Celiwe is one step closer to her dream of working in a professional office and eventually returning to school to earn her degree. 💼🌟

Meet Sifiso Floyd Mkhonza, a YES Youth currently making big moves through the YES EYWA IT Programme. After completing 3 months of theory, Sifiso is now gaining valuable experience and making an impact through his practical placement.
Sifiso is currently in Nelson Mandela Bay, helping deploy a new VoIP telephone system for the local municipality.
“This experience has been great,” Sifiso shares. “I’ve learnt to configure and provision phones, deploy systems, troubleshoot, and solve real technical issues. The challenges we’ve faced on the ground have pushed us to grow stronger as a team.”
Sifiso’s story is proof that access to hands-on learning doesn’t just build technical skills. It builds confidence, resilience, and a future full of potential.
